Hi Folks,

Got a couple of nights in Preston next weekend on my way up to a lakes tour.

Any ideas for secure bike parking somewhere close to the train station?

Out of plain sight is what I've got in mind.

It’s been five or six years since I last did this, but there was a long-standing arrangement where bikes aren’t charged for parking in the station multi storey - there are even ground anchors, the bike spaces are on every floor where the space would otherwise be wasted. I was told at the time to enter and leave by going round the end of the barrier, one of which is shortened for precisely that reason. I would check with Avanti first but see no reason why it would have changed.

Thanks for that, looking on net it seems it's still the same. I'll have to take my big lock/chain if I cant find something more hidden.

Tbh I’d have no qualms using the station car park - it’s well lit, lots of cars and bikes parked overnight, people coming and going all the time and no reputation for problems.

You’re more than welcome to store it in my garage.

I’m about two miles out of the centre in a decent area.

Also try the Avenham Car Park multi-storey. Council ran and is only open during normal hours, locked up overnight.

Been a number of years since i used the parking on the train station platform but i would take MGZTV8 up on his offer and get a taxi from his house for peace of mind. That is unless your bike is a bike nobody would want to steal (highly unlikely)

Oh thanku, that's a very kind offer.

I'll private message you tomorrow eve with dates to see if they fit in with you.
