I have an SV650 '08 injection

It was riding fine then the rectifier went - I mention it in case the 16v could have affected something

At around the same time / shortly afterwards, it developed a weird power issue

It will rev cleanly at standstill

When riding it's down on power, if you accelerate it will do so slowly and then a load more will come in quite abruptly

Its almost as if the second cylinder is coming in but the exhaust note doesn't change

It's like a sensor isn't giving the right reading for fuel, then it comes back in but even when the power comes back I think it's still down on power

It doesn't matter if you accelerate slowly or quickly or what gear you're in

It's not a slipping clutch

There are no fault codes nor engine lights

I think that’s a twin spark engine. Could be a bad plug with the other working well enough to fire but not run optimally.

Not had an SV before, but have had bikes with similar issues. Turned out to be coils

Have you got access to one of those infra red non contact thermometers to compare the exhaust temperatures for each cylinder?

Thanks all

This is the earlier model with a single spark plug per cylinder - I've pulled them, they look okay maybe a smidge lean

I did wonder about the coil, generally when I've had failures they're ok when cold and fail when warm - certainly not discounting it but it felt like a fueling issue - although the plugs dispute that biggrin

I have got a temp sensor - worth a try
