McAms Yamaha have announced that Tito Rabat will be taking over the second bike for Snetterton and Brands Hatch rounds.
Let's see how well he goes on the Yamaha compared to his time in BSB on the Honda

There must of been some cash change hands to facilitate this as he was really not very good when he rode last time in BSB. Came to Thruxton, which should be a track that suits a GP rider with big corner speed and angle, and was right at the very back for every session and race. Then did two free practices at Cadwell, and threw his toys out the pram and booked a taxi
I appreciate McAms have to field someone to fulfil their contractual obligations, but there's so many better riders that aren't in contracts this year that could've ridden that bike

I suspect money talks at the end of the day!
Coming in mid season pretty much anyone available would struggle.

Might as well bring someone who brings big bags of money with him!

He was anonymous at Donington at the weekend on the Puccetti Kawasaki.

I guess he is at a loose end and was happy to accept the ride for just two rounds.
Now you can speculate all day long about his ability and whether or not he is a good choice but i guess Raceways needed to get a rider on the bike for sponsor reasons and he might well be the only person willing to take a two race situation. It might well be that they have someone else in mind and they can't get them just yet, we shall see.

My take too. Can't believe he's back.

I really hope he does better than last time. The bloke was unstoppable in Moto2 once upon a time.

I guess the issue also is to get anyone decent in you would be having to break a contract, the only guys you can really ask are Endurance guys who only do a few races a year, but some of them are on Yamaah's and would surely be a better bet than this chap who has done literally zero since retiring from GP, other than buy his way into rides and then be utterly useless.

he must have about 100 sets of once use leathers. Be better really to leave the bike alone

I wonder if they thought to ask Sylvain Guintoli... he lives down the road!

Heavily linked to Suzuki and probably contracted too.

True but as they have pulled out of racing, technically he is a free agent.
I still think they have someone in mind but maybe cannot get them until after Brands Hatch, so have fulfilled sponsor obligations for the next two rounds by having Rabat on the bike

However Guintoli is contracted to SERT and is currently.

That was my thought, and Danny Webb has been racing a Yamaha well in WEC, and knows the UK tracks
I have heard they have a proper replacement lined up after Tito's two round stint, who'll take them to the end of the season (but probably won't be any better than Tito)

Not yet and i suspect he will have to pass a stringent medical before he is allowed to have his racing licence back again, if he ever is.
