Bike previously owned, same model bought again?
Discussion
Inspired by a previous post of a chap purchasing his 4th gen 2 Busa.. How many bikes have you purchased in the past that you thought were so good you purchased the same model again?
For me, I first purchased an ZXR750 H2 in 1990, I then bought an H1 ZXR in ‘04, followed by another H2 in 2010. And finally my current ZXR750 H2 bought end of last year. So that’s 4.

Also..
I first purchased a ‘98 TL-R in ‘02.. and purchased another (current bike) TL-R in March this year.

Had an Aprilia RS125 in 2009 when I was 17/18 then bought another in 2019. Sold it in 2021 for a small profit. It was just as lovely to ride as I remember but my first one was a lot quicker / ran better. But then again that’s no surprise as the first one was an ex-Superteens race bike and the second one was a restricted model that had been converted to full power.

I’ve also had two GSXR 600 K5s - one when I was 19 and then another 3 years later. First one was tatty but a rocketship (Yoshi full system, power commander etc) and the second one was totally standard and rode lovely.

Love those pictures 10 years apart.. I had a Honda NS125F as my first bike way back in 1989. Sadly very few exist these days

Ducati ST2, then ST4S now ST3...
They really are bargain Ducati’s compared to the prices for the sport bikes, 916 etc.. Doesn’t the ST4/S have the same engine as 916/996?Now at 40,000 miles..
They are IMHO great bikes, but getting on in years now, so most have a lot more miles on than the superbikes and most will have a decade or so of amateur maintenance and/or neglect.
AIUI, the ST4and -S share engine parts with the Superbikes, but I'm not sure they have the same cams, EFI maps or actually fit in each other's frames?
I wouldn't mind another go at owning a 60s Triumph, provided I had access to a serious workshop to make it work as it should.
I was at one time a serial buyer of certain East European bikes, but that was a matter of cannibalising them for spares.

Triumph Trophy 900's.
About 10-12 years ago they suddenly became cheap as chips and I owned a succession of them
My brothet in law still has my favourite one in Czech Republic where it is a real novelty bike.
It’s pretty rare here too.. can’t remember the last time I saw one? About 10-12 years ago they suddenly became cheap as chips and I owned a succession of them

I always quite liked the Daytona 900 super III in yellow

Now seriously thinking about a 1290SAS....
Owned 3 RSV4's in succession over several years
Bought a R1200GS in Vietnam and then a R1250GS in South Africa, a purchasing decision which I wont ever repeat
I know what I like and like what I know

One of only two bikes I genuinely regret selling!
