Gee Mir is having a tough time of it. More stacks this year so far than in all of 2022.
Watching the replay of practice 2 today I noticed that there was going to be some Formula E. I was a bit too early to watch it so I had a look to see if there was any in the earlier rounds. Yep, Le Mans. Cool lets watch some of it. They're on the Ducati electric race bikes this year so I thought it might be a bit of a spectacle. Two laps into the race and yeah naah - I wonder if these are quicker or not than Moto 3....... I wondered if Le Mans just doesn't translate as well to the small screen like some other rounds do... I have a suspicion that it won't for this this weekends round.

Mir is struggling with a nasty hand injury, so no shock, but I would not be shocked if he does s Zarco, this is not doing him any good.
Between the two I've always favoured Joan, but the last couple of seasons Alex has impressed me, I feel like he's finding the consistency he badly needed to go alongside his natural talent. I don't know what chassis Alex is on right now, he could be benefitting from having a stable package underneath him rather than the constant changes the factory guys go through. Joan has struggled since the Suzuki withdrawl announcement, the HRC move is kicking his head in right now.I see Lorenzo Dalla Porta has left his Moto2 team and currently with another now. This is the guy who (admittedly on the rocketship Leopard) won the 2019 Moto3 title beating amongst others Canet, Arbolino, Vietti, Masiá, Arenas, García and since moving to Moto2 has finished the championship in 27th, 27th, 22nd and currently 27th again with a best finish of 11th once. Just not good enough really is it. Danny Kent the only previous recent Moto3 champion not to do the business managed 6th, 7th and 9th place finishes in his rookie year for a total of 35 points, Dalla Porta in 4 years has scored 36 points in total and Kent was the one considered a failure.
Statistically speaking, having the sprint races was always going to increase the number of in-race biffs and thus injuries simply as they're doing more racing. The powers probably looked at SBK, with them having not only two races per weekend plus sprints (superpole) and thought they were on a winner with sprints in MotoGP. This might be an outlier year as riders wind their heads back in - which I think they've already started doing.
