Sweaty Kit - Better Options ?
Discussion
Popped out today - RST kit, properly washed
Sweaty within minutes particularly my legs
I have mesh kit for full on summer but this time of year with showers I thought my std kit would do
The vents in the jacket don't seem to do much, trousers are unvented
Do the more expensive liners work better as Sinaqua seems utterly st ?
Local shop said wearing technical underwear would work - but I struggle to see how adding layers when I'm too warm is going to help (I have the tops which I wear in spring / winter can't say I'm overly impressed with them)
Or do I just buy stuff with loads of vents

By technical underwear I think they mean the stuff that wicks sweat away. I use 'ProSkin' it's really good for when it's very hot. Stops you getting wet and sweaty. It also keeps you cool. If I'm abroad and it's say 4o+degrees I put it on wet and it is a great cooler for the first hour.Sweaty within minutes particularly my legs

I wear a mesh jacket that has a pull out wind liner just in case it cools down. Single layer kevlar jeans are about as cool as it gets whilst still offering *some* protection (have D30 hip and knee armour in them).
Mesh/cordura has to be the way to go, so long as it has full armour im happy to wear it on warmer days.

Yes - I have a merino wool one and an outlast one - I'm far from convinced that they do muchBase layers for me too..
Got some in the sale at fdxsports... meant for 2 wheels without engines, but really nice quality.
Usually wear a mesh jacket too with lining under the seat just in case.
When I'm away somewhere I can trust the weather to be too warm, I also use an inuteq cool vest

After trying numerous options (single layer jeans, premium textiles, etc.), I found perforated leathers worked best for me.
The perforations let the leather breathe even better than my riding jeans. (If it’s cool or might rain, I can always slip on a thin windproof or waterproof.)
I also wear a decent base layer, but I find ventilation/perforated leather makes much more difference.

Vents that go directly to the skin, not blocked by a drop liner, are considerably more effective if you want textile gear. I also wear a decent base layer, but I find ventilation/perforated leather makes much more difference.

The base layer you guys are wearing what are they made of ?
I've tried Outlast and Merino
I like Helly hansen lifa stuff for summer, a short sleeve under a mesh jacket works well when it gets real hotI've tried Outlast and Merino
I do also have some Helly merino wool for winter months, but find them too warm in summer
I tried my RST mesh jacket out in Wales yesterday with single layer jeans at 22 degrees
In the sun it worked beautifully, as I went up the mountains and in the shade I could have done with some quick close flaps, I had the liner with me but then it would have been too hot
The jeans were perfect although I know they don't offer great protection
I'll look into the base layers

38degC here today, rode to work and at lunchtime. know urbane pro 2 is about the best upper body solution imo. single layer jeans also. weirdly vented leather gloves work better than textile.
worst is the helmet, no real solution for that other than regular washes and eventual replacement of the liner.
