I've found a F1R exhaust in the garage from a SV650, it's connecting pipe is a slightly smaller diameter to the Suzuki DL1000s but the strap/can end fits into the hanger so secure - has anyone botched a slightly smaller diameter end can in and did it work? Did you use a tighter ratchet clamp to make it work? I fitted it briefly and boy it sounds MEATY (can't find the removable baffle).

I've done similar on cars in the past

Either using stepped adapters, a cut down pipe as a sleeve or bodged with fire gum or high temp silicone

You can buy universal baffles on eBay

Do you mean just the can to frame fitting or smaller bore piping?

If the piping then, I bought some aftermarket exhaust downpipes & cans for my old Guzzi.

Original exhaust is 38mm and the new one 40mm but the cans will fit both sized pipes as they were supplied with a reduction bush (basically a length of 1mm thick steel plate curved into an open-ended circle) that fits over the original 38mm pipe/inside the 40mm can so that they can still be used with the original Guzzi downpipes if required.

If you are talking about a couple mm difference, then I've just done something similar - 51mm exhaust to a 65mm Akro silencer. You can get a link made up. I ordered here: https://www.mijexhaust.com/product/any-size-exhaus...

And it came back perfect! I just cut it shorter.

If its only 1 or 2 mm, I'd look at options like graphite rings or something else to create a seal.

I've used MIJ for complete exhausts but never knew they offered custom adaptors - £10.99 seems great VFM

I've adapted a few bike exhausts so I'll share one lesson.

Look at the original fitment on the sv. Is it a solid clamp or a spring type? If it's a spring you will need a reducer and keep the spring for heat expansion, otherwise you will have a cracked pipe in a space of a few journeys.

I dont have the photos to hand but I solidly clamped one (ducati that should have had a spring connection) and on 2nd trip out, the pipe at the silencer split wide open!

It's a clamp no spring on the original
