I have an Arai Axcess 2 helmet which is about 8 years old and a bit battered so looking for a new one.
I've just got back from a 3500 mile bike tour and found it to be very noisy, especially during windy conditions.
Are the any recommendations for genuinely quiet helmets for touring?

AGV Sport Modular (Flip) i find it to be quiet, comfortable too, as its a flip the reduced neck hole keeps wind out so quieter

Best one I ever used is a Schuberh. Very Quiet. Underrated helmets . At one time every F1 driver was using them.

I need a new full face. My Arai must be from 15 years ago and I love it but then, aren't you supposed to get rid every 5 years or so?

Another vote for Schuberth, my C3 is way quieter than my previous Shoei, although Shoei now do a "whisper kit" for thier helmets with an additional neck strip to reduce the turbulence and keep the noise down

I had a Shoei NXR for a few years and that was quiet but my new NXR2 is quieter still, especially on the motorway or in cross winds. Also the most comfortable helmet I've ever had.

I’ve got a x spirit 3 and the first time I wore it I thought the bike had cut out it was a that much quieter than my previous helmet.

That said there is no substitute for ear plugs.

Yes, I use etymologic ear plugs but still get lots of buffeting noise.

My AGV K6 is exceptionally quiet, but I'd still have plugs anyway as there's no lid that can stop 50mph winds from damaging your hearing

Just swapped the screen on my XR and my NXR2 has gone from noisy to quiet.

I’ve been a life long Arai customer and went with schuberth due to the reputation of them being quiet.

I thought it wasn’t any quieter and a whole lot less comfortable than Arai so after a few years went back to what I know.

Custom moulded ear plugs have been the most effective thing to reduce wind noise for me.

I have a shoei gt air 2, a helmet that gets praise for being quiet but don't find much of a difference between that and my NXR

I read recently that flip fronts are quieter as they seal better to the neck - as per the poster a few posts up.

I wear earplugs - always.

Touring helmets are supposed to be better than the more expensive race ones (race reps)

The Quantic may be Arai’s quietest lid.

I found the Arai visor lock system really hard to open one handed, it is a technique thing or just hard to open?

Not long had a Shoei Neotec 2 flip up helmet and it’s noticeably more quiet than my AGV SV Stealth (though not as wide an aperture for good visibility).

Aargh, now I have something else to consider….different visibility. Damn you.

Must be technique: I crack it open with the leaver using my thumb then pinch with thumb and forefinger to set position. The Arai lets you set to any position, which is excellent and my AGV's have never been able to do.
