Something a little different
Discussion
Have been wanting to get another bike for a few months now. I love my multistrada, it’s brilliant and I’ll keep it for a while yet. I had been toying with little 2 strokes (too small for me and my stiff knees), getting another 200hp sports bike (but I had good reasons for selling my S1000RR a couple of years back). Even tempted by a nice 851 Ducati I had a look at. But, I’ve had some fabulous trips over the last two years where I haven’t ridden fast, just enjoyed being in lovely places, with good company, and just being out rolling around on a bike.
So I thought I’d go for something that would be a different type of fun to the Ducati for those types of days….. This arrived yesterday.
Taken it for a short ride today (60 miles). It’s very different to anything I’ve owned before. Not sure if it’s the cruiser I imagined it to be as it’s very grunty and I can’t decide if it’s laid back or not. May feel different once I’ve got the bars better positioned. It’s certainly a different type of fun tackling the bends (is actually remarkable for its size and ridiculous back tyre).
And no… It didn’t come with arseless chaps :-)

I've never ridden a cruiser, but would love to try something like that!
Isn't the new Rocket 2.5 litre? I should imagine you need pretty strong elbow & shoulder joints to cope with the traffic light GP
I think the new ones are a more serious / more rounded muscle bike. Based on my limited ride on this older one, its certainly got huge amounts of bottom and mid range torque so the new ones must be monsters.Isn't the new Rocket 2.5 litre? Have fun with that... looks great. I tried one a few years back when a mate owned one. Phenomenal grunt. Mate sold his shortly afterwards, unfortunately, as moving it on his very steep drive was a problem for him.
Its very big when walking it around. I was pretty uncomfortable moving it across a fairly shallow sloping driveway on Saturday. I think the very wide rear tyre also exaggerates it when the ground isn't flat and smooth as you really feel the contact point moving off centre and the weight of the bike becomes very obvious.ThreadKiller said:
I do rather like these :-)
Enjoy!
Thank you :-) Enjoy!
I've been looking at them for a few months and trying to work out what the different versions are and how the specifications changed through the models life. I think the earlier bikes are better looking, but I decided I wanted ABS due to the weight of the bike and me having to get used to not over depending on the front brake.

My neighbour has a 20 plate 2.3, he loves it. Bit heavy but a very stable cruiser.
We both did 200 miles on Sunday for the Bike4Life charity ride.
I was on my Dorsoduro.
It was cold, damp / wet, 4 hours of riding.
Guess who was perfectly comfortable and who wasn't?!
Lol… It does have a huge and comfy seat. Think I’d rather the pegs be a little further forward….might have to get some “highway pegs”… I think it’s all going down hill since I bought this 😂We both did 200 miles on Sunday for the Bike4Life charity ride.

A two-wheeled bus!
Enjoy!
I’ve been thinking about what it is….I was thinking is it a bus or a HGV ? As it’s huge and takes quite a bit of attention / focus to ride. But it’s actually very fast and is pretty fun hustling it around corners (in a very different way to sports bikes I’ve owned). I think it might more of a Ford Capri with a LS7 motor in it or that Transit with the XJ220 engine in it… Don't know, something weird like that.Enjoy!
After about 10 days, I’m enjoying it. It’s very different to anything I’ve had before. Over this bank holiday weekend when there was lots of traffic and there wasn’t much point rushing around it was fantastic.
It’s a bit odd, I’m getting used to having chicken strips AND the pegs going down … It’s fun although you stay very aware of its size and it wouldn’t be easy to correct a significant mistake in cornering line.

I do like that, not taking itself too seriously, which I think is also true of the bike.... Probably wouldn't release such a video today, must have been touch and go at the time :-)Tribal Chestnut said:
If I had garage space I’d have something weird like that in it, though I’d need to get rid of the shiny bits and saddle bags.
Funnily enough, I did look at an all black one (well, with two red stripes), It had very loud exhausts on it and was quite tatty so that put me off.I'm not sure about the shinny bits.
I am sure about the saddle bags though, you're 100% right there :-)
