Anyone have any experience with riding something like this? I love the 90s graphics on these.

Obviously the dream is a 2 stroke crazy super moto or a husky 701 but they are a bit too popular in London with the wrong people and maintaining it might be a bit too much hassle as I don't have a garage.

Are they fun? Are knobbly tyres going to be totally useless or would they do for a commuting bike? Is it going to break down a lot? Will it survive covered outdoors?

Would be used for the odd 45 min London commute or trip into the city or around local towns and some green laning around Surrey. Wouldn't be used on motorways or long trips.

Wife has a Ninja 650 I can use so for a second bike in the home was thinking of something completely different (currently I have a Grom which is good fun but time for a change and can sell the grom for the cost of a bigger bike so thinking that's what I'm going to do)

IMHO

They're a bit heavy and gutless for any reasonable fun off road and sluggish on road. Traily tyres are also a bit crap on tarmac. But fun can be had on anything with two wheels and an engine if you try hard enough

The Suzi DR400 appears to be more popular. Doubt if it weights much more and will have a bit more go.

Depending on model, DRZs are about 140kg and TTR 128kg. I read DRs wear that weight quite high but for sure seem popular.
From my research, TTR seemed likely to be a very capable and manageable green laner.
So I bought one (blue enduro) a month ago.
It won’t win a beauty contest, but I like it. Cruises at 60 happily, made the green lanes i drive easy.
It’s a step up from my DT175.

Looks 😍 to me.

Would I be able to ride one with off road tyres on road to get to green lanes and around London?

I know blue is the right colour for A Yamaha but this is the colour scheme I want for it - love 90s style graphics on any bike:

Nice!
Mine’s a 10 footer (looks good from 10 feet away)!
I do 20-30 miles to get to my green lanes.
Haven’t had problems with the knobblies. They are a bit noisy and I know grip will be limited so I’m always very steady.
Does wear them out though.

Yes!
However you'll need deep pockets because knobblies wear at a dramatic rate on the road, guess how I know.
Once the knobbles lose their sharp edges they're rubbish off road.

You can get all types of 'knobblies' like you can road tyres.
Varying in depth, aggressiveness, tread pattern etc.

Just go with a compromise of a trail focused tyre and it'll last alright.
Knobblies can be surprisingly grippy anyway. Wouldn't worry about it

Better than a Crf 250l not as good things like a KTM EXC off road , would say ok on the road but the newest is twenty years old , so better as a low use hobby bike … sad they don’t make them or the XR 250 ,DR Suzuki anymore ,

CRF250 was also on my list - the youtuber itchyboots is riding around the world on the CRF300 Rallye so it will probably be okay for riding around Surrey and the occasional ride into London.

The KTM EXC or similar with a supermoto set of wheels for road would be my preference but it won't last long parked on the street in London.
