Harz mountains bikey recommendations
Discussion
Morning. Can anyone give me some recommendations of hotels, roads and sights to see for a few days in the Harz mountains area of Germania.
Me & couple of mates are planning to visit the Sachsenring MotoGP in June and I thought this area might be fun on the way.
There’s a funky / slightly odd new museum nearby that’s already on the to-do list

All other suggestions gratefully received.

It's not easy to find information in English - only seems to offer Dutch or Danish versions on the official Harz tourism website.
Here's some machine translated links to websites that recommend tours or points of interests for bikers:

Stayed in Bad Lauterberg,Altenau and Goslar when was there,15 odd years ago and advanced memory loss means I cant help with specific hotels but the above towns were decent enough places to stay for some food and beers of an evening. Again for the reasons mentioned above I cant remember any roads in particular but many excellent roads in the area and a lot less traffic than say the Black forest or Bavaria.
Sorry can't recommend anywhere but I recall taking the bike there years ago when I was in the Army over there and can state that it was some of the best roads I've been on, Superb surfaces and sweeping left / right handers for miles and miles. Watch your speed though as Th Polizei are / were aware of its popularity with bikes.
You'll love it, I'm sure.

Haven't done it on a bike but been there as a tourist a few times.
Do the narrow gauge railways, so relaxing, great scenery etc etc.
Go up the Brocken Mountain and gaze around at the surrounding countryside.
Remember that the hillwalking phenomenon of a Brocken Spectre is named after here.
It was also a major radio and tv blocking station in the soviet era to prevent the uncivilised West from broadcasting propaganda to East Germany.
Loads of quaint little towns and villages, no one over 40 speaks any English, try the sausages, don't mention the war.

Used this as a base a few weeks ago.

Mostly intended for travelling builders, it has decent rooms plus a kitchen area. The bakery opposite is open early & is superb.

www.bestbikingroads.com has a fair few routes defined in the region. Might be worth checking that out.
if you have the time en-route or on the return from the Harz Mountains. A mini dam busters tour is within reach an well worth the effort. Visiitng the 3 dams of the famous Dambusters raids of operation Chastise. the 3 dams, the Mohner, Eder and Sorpe are easily accessible en route to or from the UK and Harz Mountains. I can't remember exactly but two of the dams are reasonably close to each other and more or less enroute to the Harz. the other one is a bit out on a limb further to the north from memory.
I can't remember which, but being at either the Mohner or Eder, felt particulary atmospheric and surreal to me, possibly due to the colossal thunder storm I got caught in there.
Also depending how much time you have. Circular route taking in the Ardennes / Eifel region the Harz and returning via dams and the Mosel valley can be done sensibly in about a week. I think this was roughly the route i took. It was a long time ago.

Cheers for those taking time to give suggestions. Not sure I’ve got enough time to fit it all in on a long weekend enroute to watch the GP but we’ll give it a bash.
Group of us used to do a yearly week long lads foreign road trips - generally South France / Spain but these have been replaced by European trackday type trips for the last 10 years so this is a toe back in the water for road stuff - re-fitting standard exhaust, tyres with tread and buying new waterproofs are now also being considered.
