So my first bike sans any onboard carrying capacity, a Monster 937, just picked up and now hopefully safe in it's garage with a Monster Padlock and chain, an Abus alarmed disclock and an Xena one as well.

Insurance wanted to know what security I was going to be using and at least two must be used.

For the past 8 years I've been tootling around on a Vespa 300 and T Max, both with plenty of carrying space.

Before that a Street Triple which I fitted a Givi topbox and SW Motech rack.

Prior to the early 2000s I never worried about my bikes in London and just bungeed stuff to the pillion if I wanted to carry anything.

The Monster has just enough space under the seat for my Abus 8077 but where do you guys carry the big chain?

Wouldn't fancy that in my backpack.

Such a shame that we have to worry about such things.

If SW Motech ever do a rack for the 937, I'll get one as the one on my Street Triple blended in nicely. Not that I really want to do that.

Kriega US5 tailpack?

I’ve just fitted one to Mrs Safari’s Tuono and it should fit the bill for what you’re after too?

Carrying chains on a bike is sh*t, so I just have a flimsy lightweight Oxford one, combined with an alarmed disclock.

I killed a rack once by carrying too many locks in a top box.

Edit: locks and basic tools go in my top box. It has a fairly limited 5kg capacity, so laptop, shoes, food & clothes all go in a rucksack, which I fking hate.

Cannot be arsed with pissing around with the straps on my Kriega tail pack, plus it won’t mount properly on the XR.

If they want two when you're out can't you use two disk locks?

I wouldn't want to crash with a heavy chain on the pillion seat potentially hitting me in the spine. As the poster above said, there aren't really any good ways of carrying one.

Does the bike have no standard security ? usually when you have an immobiliser that counts as one item then insurers ask for one more physical device like a disk lock.

Even on the highest group bike Ive never been asked to use more than a disc lock when away from home.

Those Litelocks are supposed to be pretty good if you do need a chain in addition to disc lock ...or what 2 disc locks might be easiest to carry. I have a Pragmasis round lock I use with a 16mm chain at home and also its easy to carry under the seat, just need to check if it fits through your brake disc:
