Evening!

I’m looking to get myself another bike soon and have no idea what to go for.

I had a 2000 CBR600F a few years ago which I never got on with. Didn’t like the riding position and just found it clunky to use. Last year I got myself a Suzuki GSR750 which I really liked, however it would’ve been so much better with fairings to calm down the buffeting a bit. I sold that at the end of the year as I needed the money.

I’m now looking around at options again and there’s a couple on the list so far. KTM RC8, an early one. I have always loved the look of these and the noise they make. However I don’t know if it’s going to be too much like the CBR with regard the riding position. Then there’s the KTM Supermoto 990T. I’m not 100% sold on the looks but again there’s the noise!

Those are the only two I’ve really looked into so far. Any other suggestions?

If you found a 600f clunky to use you won’t get on with a RC8, at all.

If you want smooth, fast and wind protection I’d be looking at a Z1000SX or GSX S1000F. They also have traction control, which is nice to have.

An impossible question with a huge number of potential, and potentially wrong, answers.

A little fine tuning would help here.

What do you expect to use the bike for/will never use the bike for?
- Off road/on road
- Touring/commuting/Sunday afternoon rides
- solo/pillion

What style of bike would you prefer/definitely not want?- - Naked, sports, adventure, tourer, cruiser ...

What engine capacity/bhp/torque do you want/want to avoid?

What's your budget?

(PS The answer is an H2 SX SE - but that's after we clarify the question... wink )

It’ll be used for commuting, very occasional touring and some Sunday afternoon rides.

I want some wind protection so definitely not naked.

Engine capacity I’d be looking at 750cc upwards.

Don’t have a set budget. Open to all suggestions smile

Bit left field but a Yamaha Fazer 8? I've just got the naked version and really like it. The 4 cylinder engine makes it unusual these days believe it or not. I haven't seen too many others about either. Only down side is they seem too have held their value quite well considering their age. I know quite a few people with Mt-09 tracers as well that really rate them.

The fact you've mentioned two completely different bikes I'd suggest going to a big independent dealer and sitting on a load to see what suits you

I'm a huge fan of the 990SMT I'm selling my Speed Triple R because whilst I love the bike, I find 99% of the time I grab the keys to my 990SM as it's as much fun & far more comfortable to ride

£5k will get a good one - ABS is a rare option - if that bothers you

Unless the question is - what is the dullest bike known to man ?

V Strom is not the answer

And todays nomination for suggesting your own bike goes to....

Suzuki GSX-S1000F

I'm now too much of a knacker for sports bikes and the GSX-S is a good compromise.

I like mine so much i'm toying with the idea of the GT.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I’ll have to go and sit on some bikes and see what I fancy smile
