I've almost finished my CZ125 rebuild (turned it into a 175). I've had help setting up the points but it still goes over my head..... I'm intending to use this on reasonably long trips (dragon rally etc) and could do without constant tinkering with something I don't understand. Could also do with the ability to charge a phone etc....

So are 12v electronic conversions worth it? I'm looking at VAPE at £320 but that's the same as I paid for the bike.

My tuppence worth, and I have a VAPE fitted to my LC, If its functioning fine as is, leave it be.

If it starts to muck around beyond changing the points, swap it out.

If your CZ kit gets you everything like I had with my LC kit(CDI/coil/reg/rec/flywheel) £320 is a bargain .

I sold most of my OE electrics and nearly got most of my money bike, along with first kick starting even when sat for months, better pick up and the kit gave the bike an 8BHP gain.

I've Emailed via PH details of a kit that may be suitable and cost less than the price you paid for the bike.

Would running a 12V system have the additional benefit of a brighter headlamp, Power equals Voltage multiplied by Current (P = V x I)?

With regard to learning how to set up points, I wonder if someone else explaining it with reference to what each part does when may work. I think if it was myself in that situation I'd probably pick it up better if someone was telling me how to do it rather than me watching them do it. I think that 'Sitting beside Peter' training method doesn't work for me. I am more likely to retain the information if I do it myself and it's explained to me why I am doing what, when. Perhaps it's a diversity issue and the sitting beside Peter copying what they do works for most people. Perhaps I think too much and I should just copy what Peter does and not think about it?

Having cajoled a mate into helping me change a head gasket once I can appreciate that it may be awkward to ask them to explain it as well as fit it.
