Can’t believe I have just thought about this.
Taken the engine apart after failed ring.
Going to get crank rebuilt and a rebore.
For the rebore, the engine will have to be partially reassembled.
Is it then necessarily to take the engine apart again to clean out metal/swarf from the rebore?
I would have thought so, but checking myself as not done this before.
Thanks.

The rebore only involves the cylinder so, unless there's any damage to the rest of the engine then it's just remove/rebore/replace the cylinder.

Is the bore Nikasil plated? if so it'll need replating, in which case it's a specialised job.

I'm talking rubbish...
The cylinder (obviously now I have thought about it with a clearer head) is off and can be rebored separate to the split crankcases.
Must be overtired; think I should go back to bed.
