I hate selling bikes

Sold my Z1000 today, cracking bike, all sorts of very sensible reasons to sell it. But still feel sad seeing it go.
Anyone else feel the same?

I get attached to bikes, have 4 at the moment and I’m kind of looking for a 5th.

I remember trading in my speed triple over 10 years ago, it felt like giving away a beloved dog.
I have no intention of feeling that way again!

There’s that too. I can’t be arsed selling anything privately as you get to deal with the muppets . The low trade ins and high selling prices of dealers put me off.
I understand that they need to make money, I’d just prefer them not to make it all from me!

I tend to keep bikes long enough that I’m happy to see them go and move on to the next one.

I don't enjoy the buying , or selling experience.
I buy the bike or car I really want and just keep them for many years.

Weirdly I love selling bikes, I enjoy selling more than buying

I enjoy being rude to the low ballers, I enjoy negotiating & seeing the new owner full of excitement, I love taking the money / making a profit

But I've always run multiple cars / bikes and rarely keep anything long term as there's always another to experience

Nope.. sold 2 bikes last week.. nice and easy.. happy to see them go.

I have lots of memories and when they go, I have pictures and videos as a reminder.

I greatly dislike selling.. love buying, hate selling. It’s just a pain to do, adverts, dealing with the phone calls from ‘what’s your best price’ brigade.. the whole spiel tbh.
Probably why I have 6 bikes crammed into my garage.. I am about to sell my Aprilia RSV Factory though, so I am bracing myself - _ -

I have a KTM 300 EXC that i'm thinking of selling,already been severely low balled by my loclal dealer and dreading the thought of selling it privately.

Don't do much selling, last one I sold was 25 years ago. Bought 3 since and still got them, not planning on selling any time soon.

I sold it to a local bike shop, for a fare price. That part was actually fine.
It’s just the...letting go. It’s daft really, got two other bikes I prefer riding, so no reason to keep it, wanted the extra space in the garage, but.... still a bit sad to see it go.

I’ve never minded letting mine go ie the emotional side. Quite enjoy it really, moving on and all that.

Ironically listed my R1200RT for 5500. I only received low balling private sellers. PX for 5500 and they listed again for 6799.

I get it that buyers want that 'piece of mind' but I advertised it as no issues. Etc with full annual history. So I really don't understand private buyers. Are the run of the mill like car buyers I.e. don't have a clue/conditioned to buy from a dealer?

Finance and ease of offloading the old one plus a bit of a warranty may be enough to sway a lot of people.

I've ummed and arred about getting a new bike for a few years now. What put me off was selling the old one.

Just ordered a new one today and keeping the old one, much easier. Might get round to selling the old one at a later date but it's probably worth more to me as a bike now, then as cash.

Add in not worrying about fraud & scammers.

I'm not big on selling bikes, genuinely shed a few tears when the last one went. Loving the current ride and, although I may have flirted with the idea of getting one of the new Guzzi's, the longer I'm happy to kick that can down the road the harder it'll become to move on from where I am. Quite enjoying racking up miles at 5x the rate of the previous owner.

Barely anyone seems to sell their bike privately. Private listing on AT are really low.

I usually just chop them in for my next one at a dealer as long as I'm happy with the price. Bikes arnt expensive things compared to cars so any depreciation hit isn't huge anyway.
