My £800 beater has been fully rebuilt and is ready for paint. It’s a 2003 blade, and will be done in an approximation of a period livery. I just don’t know many of them as it seems the rc51 was the widely raced machine.

Currently favouring McGuinness’s TT scheme. I would go full Joey Vimto but doesn’t sit right with me on the wrong bike, and the later McG tribute to it looks a bit naff.

I didn’t pay much attention to bikes until a few years back, so hoping there are some cool ones I don’t know about. Any series or rider. Any suggestions?

03 blade isn’t a cool bike so I’d go for something unique rather than a tribute.

Failing that just repsol it like everyone else.

Honestly..

Something cheap and easily repairable..

odds are it'll take a trip down the road, into the scenery or similar and expensive paint jobs are double $$ to repair. Save yourself the hassle and pick a single block colour and apply graphics.

Mate had a lovely HM Plant Blade , all black with orange HM logo's each side... looked great and was easy to fix up or replace in the event of an incident.

Yes fully expecting to drop it at some stage. For the example above it would be done in red with all graphics applied in vinyl then clear coated. The paint and graphics are not expensive. I part own a garage and it will be done by one of our suppliers.

I did initially want to do my own thing but have been talked out of it so now all I think of is the above bike. I know it’s not remotely cool, but the last thing that will happen to it is a repsol livery!

I’m going to go hot/neon pink and neon/turquoise blue on mine one day, possibly with a Lucky Strike theme.

Honestly for a track bike I’d be going rattle can black. Easy to do, easy to touch up minor damage. Easy to match if you need to replace bits.

Search BMW Art Cars for inspiration. Or go crazy with rattle cans in a freehand form!

I'd do something along the lines of that mcguinness bike. It's just red with a honda wing logo of sorts. You could get that wing logo thing cut in vinyl.

Actually I’d put big cbr600 logos on it.
Then you look like a hero when you go melting past!

I say go with the McGuinness’s TT scheme, looks smart, especially if you can get your hands on a period Micron or similar long can!

That is awesome indeed.

I'd be tempted to graffiti it with some rattle cans from Halfords - grab half a dozen colours and just give it a wave over in stripes like the above or BMW art car style

Agreed, in fact I'll go one step further and say it looks good as it is. thumbup
