Been considering a V4 Tuono as a replacement for my VFR1200F (Fireblade and SDR 1290 are also in the running). Had a late gen 1 for a few months. Sounded fantastic but it tank slapped so badly it terrified me to ride it anymore so sold it on - I fitted an Ohlins damper from the upper spec model which helped enormously but I couldn't ever trust it again. In addition it averaged 25mpg and I'm NOT a fast rider by any stretch of the imagination.

Yup me too, will need to be an 1100 though. Here's a silly question for ye!
When I saw the 660 in the flesh, it looked pretty damn amazing, as the above photos prove. I thought I was looking at the full fat Tuono it looked so good. So do you think the design of the 660 actually takes away from the Tuono, like does it make the full fat bike less special because the smaller bike also has all the looks?

I actually like the fact that the 660 looks so similar to the V4.
It’s not something that bothers me personally but I can see why certain owners may feel a particular way about it.

Not for me but the v4 isn’t desirable because it’s well overdue an update. I was in the market for a super naked and got the evo version of the super duke because I’m expecting a tuono update over the next couple of years. When I saw the 660 in the flesh, it looked pretty damn amazing, as the above photos prove. Personally, I don't see major changes coming except for cosmetics and electronics. The engine is a peach, old or not. The Chassis is probably one of the best ever made. So why change something so good? Especially when you consider the sales trajectory of these kinds of bike. Probably a hefty investment on a diminishing return...

Weren't the RSV4 and Tuono's updated for the '22 MY?? or do you expect an new engine/chassis to be released in a couple of years??

It’s basically the same as the 2016 bike apart from a few tweaks here and there. Personally, I don't see major changes coming except for cosmetics and electronics. The engine is a peach, old or not. It won’t sell without a major revamp given the S1000, super duke and Ducati competition.
It is pretty much the cheapest European super naked now but not sure that helps it.
