This afternoon I took my bike out for a really quick spin. I wore a textile city XLmoto jacket, Kona mtb gloves and ankle boots.

It felt amazing. I HATE having numerous thick padded jackets, neck rolls etc so I can't turn my neck freely etc etc. I love my Dainese Goretex jacket but my word I find it constricting with the lack of flex/free movement from my long arms etc etc.

I get it its a compromise between safety to mitigate the asphalt slide etc but I ride best when I can move like im wearing a tshirt!

Any recommendations?

There are just a huge amount of options depending how much compromise / risk you are willing to take

Plenty are happy in a T shirt and shorts - I'd go to a couple of big shops and just try a load on

A few mates wear the vests with the inbuilt armour or mesh jackets (in the summer)

I wouldn't wear MTB gloves but there are loads of light weight / short gloves about, I wear them on my 525 SM as I'm most likely to come off that at sub 50mph

Also bear in mind we are coming into the spring and summer so the need for multiple layers, neck curtains and the like is going to be reduced. Although as I seem to recall you do a lot of cross pennine travel, perhaps not...

KLIM Marrakesh jacket - stretchy, pretty light, very comfortable, breathes well, decent protection.
