EMICA Milan - anyone been?
Discussion
We seem to be in general agreement that bike shows in the UK aren't very good. EMICA is supposed to be THE show, so thinking about that instead. Opportunity to take in some opera at La Scala and some Serie A potentially too, with AC, Inter, Monza and Brescia all nearby. Has anyone done it as a punter rather than trade?
Found an old thread about this including a few pictures.

While it's certainly bigger and generally 'better' than the other European shows, you can categorize it as Pre-Covid and Post-Covid.
Post Covid, it's lost some of it's sparkle: Only 6 halls instead of previously 10. No KTM, No BMW, and a lot more Chinese manufacturers.
Frankly I'm not sure it's worth the trip from the UK, unless you pair it with some other activity/event or exisiting holiday IMO.

Yes, I've never been to Milan before (though a lot of the rest of Italy). I'd like to pair it with some opera and some football - and a lot of good food. I'm not actually in the market for a new bike though. Post Covid, it's lost some of it's sparkle: Only 6 halls instead of previously 10. No KTM, No BMW, and a lot more Chinese manufacturers.

We went some time back and did the Ducati tour at Bologna as well (not too far by train), much less in the way of retail outlets there and more manufacturers of accessories, sort of had a feel of a trade show.
Oh, and the average age of attendees is about 40 years younger than at the NEC

Its the bike show for the trade, its not really meant to be a B2C event, this is where the industry meets to do business, its not a retail event in any way really and going and expecting that is missing the point.Oh, and the average age of attendees is about 40 years younger than at the NEC
I've been on numerous occasions pre Covid and it was excellent as a day out, flew in and flew out same day.

I went to EIMCA Milan in November.
Couldn't fault it at all, endless manufacturers, trade stands etc.
Value for money, i was there for work but if i had been paying, the overall cost wasn't that much more than me getting to London for a show there.
This, I went in November as I was doing some work on our Milan office. It's great value compared to the UK shows I think 16 euro? or something (that may have included the transport from central?. I went late afternoon so didn't have much time although it's open quite late. As said much more a manufacturers show.Couldn't fault it at all, endless manufacturers, trade stands etc.
