I fancy a few days riding in the sun and coincidentally Hertz have sent me through a 15% off offer

I've never done anything like it before but just fancy 3 or 4 days by myself riding

Do any of the locations stand out ?

Anything else / other companies to consider ?

I've heard it's good fun but never done it myself - another one to consider is the canaries.

To avoid snow, I'd look at Rome or Bari myself. Either ride up the Via Appia to Rome and then on into Umbria and Tuscany.

I'd choose Portugal off that list. Shame all the Hertz bikes are adventury stuff though!

There are some amazing roads around Alicante, short flight time too, even with 15% off Hertz is expensive, have a look at www.motollopis.es or triumph adventure experience Alicante.

Harry's trip to northern Spain looked good if you fancy a bit of light off road, guess that might not be possible with a hire bike.

He got the ferry to Santander.

Best roads in Northern Spain are a severe risk of snow for at least another month

Having just come back from Fuerteventura and hired a bike there (nice if a little rusty Interceptor from https://www.eastcoastrides.eu), 24 hours/250km was enough time to get round most of the island. Tenerife is a bit bigger, maybe 48 hours worth. Even though it was good fun while it lasted, I certainly wouldn't make the trip just for the riding. Stick to the mainland.

Unless I missed it I didn't see a departure date.

I'm thinking of going soon

Just a short trip so I don't want to ride mine over

I have looked at offroad and will do something whether that's TET, Morrocco etc but that would be in a group & much later in the year

Based on that list, I'd probably go to Nice, ride the coast to Genoa, then go across to Bologna, visit Ducati & Ferrari and come back .... could be a fun few days ...

Seconded on The Canaries.

I’ve used this lot before;

https://www.canaryride.com/

Great fun while the U.K. is still waking up from Winter weather.

Don’t focus too much on ‘which’ motorcycle for a few days away.

That would also be my choice. From Rome I'd ride down the west coast to Pompei then take the cliff top coast round to Sorrento and Salerno. Great weather great roads and the food and wine is to die for. Can't think of a better way to spend a few days on a motorbike.

Just checking on the weather in Spain / Portugal and looks like I'd have to wait until at least April really

Gran Canaria looks good already weather wise

Insurance - are there any recommendations for health cover that cover motorcycles / are they an issue if it's just road use ?

I was there a couple of weeks ago, very pleasant - dry & sunny, daytime temps 19-22°. Didn't rent a bike as with family, but hired a car and went around the coastal roads on West side, over the central mountains etc. The small roads are absolutely stunning, low traffic and incredible views. Definitely on my bucket list to go back and rent a bike for 3 days.

Most travel insurance is 125cc at most. The link below will cover you on big bikes, trackdays, and preexisting conditions (which I have a few of). Give them a call and they sorted me and the wife same day
