For me it's all but specifically the early stuff. This is so sublime and subtle:

I like him, he's easy watching, no marketing bullst and generally makes good points

I wouldn't think of any of his videos as must see / my favourites though

Same. The topics are good but how he does them has no appeal for me at all.

The one about co2 levels inside helmets was his jump the shark moment for me. It reminded me of an article on pistonheads 20 years ago where someone said the size of brake discs makes no difference to braking performance it's all about how hard they squeeze.

Itchy Boots and Marc_Travels every time and maybe Kinga when she was in Africa. Ryan did do some interesting videos like his test of puncture repair kits, anti corrosion fluids etc but he's a bit too manipulated, feels too forced, I prefer more easy going videos.

+1 for the Harley History video

As someone who has only recently moved to two wheels, the three way beginner bike video was great, in fact any of the comparison videos for that matter (the scooter one springs to mind)

In general the videos are easy to watch, and I think its due to the outlandish theming and creative control he and his team has. Also massive respect for anyone who uses visual timers on their sponsor segues.

I like his general style, the choice of topics is ok. The highlight every time is how he composed his clips. For example: Zero FX review in silent film style https://youtu.be/-U8JK7lUqA8

His previous videographer moved across to Zero, probably helped by this video!

I don't mind his delivery and like the fact that he uses a scientific approach to justify opinions and conclusions.

The production standards of his videos are light years ahead of many others.

I think you have to context his style and content to the main market he plays to.

Having now been in Canada for 18 months, I can, hand on heart, say that 98% of bikes I've seen are cruisers/Harley style bikes. Accordingly, most riders can't actually ride in anything than a straight line so the adv market is quite new and developing.
But some of his earlier vids were very well done, perhaps not top shelf in production value but well written and his sarcastic tilt is refreshing in the context of the US where everyone takes themselves so bloody seriously....

F9 is also Canada's biggest online store and extremely good at it, I've bought several things via their online shop with excellent service. Prices are a bit salty but that's Canada in general.

All in all, his vids are a way to maintain his shops profile and relevance so it's good for what it does.

others mention Itchy Boots et al, very different raison d'etre so not fair to compare I would suggest.

Any think on this. Canada is the largest country after Russia. it's huge in a way it's difficult to comprehend. (Ontario is 97% the size of South Africa FFS!!)
Population: 36 and 100 billion gooses, mooses and bears.
Huntin' , Shootin' Fishin' are the the main pursuits with an add in of Snow Mobiles and UTV/ATV/Side by Sides.
Winter is 29 months long, summer happens on Tuesday so bikes don't have a wide window of opportunity and due to the license restrictions, I don't think many young guns are taking up biking. 100% of bikes I see on the 97% of crusiers look as if they're straight out of a 100 year old 'Wild Hog's pastiche...

So, it's fair to say biking (other than cruisers) isn't a big market here.

We have 2 (I think) here (Rich AR & Bob Defly) in a country of 36m....

But what scenery........Breathtaking is so much an understatement it's difficult to really describe it.... Really one of the last true wilderness regions I think, amazing for Adv riding..

Have a look at this... https://ridethehighlands.ca/en/routes/pick-axe-loo...

Anyway, yes, F9, Ryan.. Yeah, he's ok... smile Don't take it too seriously wink

It’s not his content that doesn’t interest me. It him personally that I can’t watch.

See also Missenden Flyer, Stuart Fillingham, all for the same reasons.

Teapot One also falls in to that category as well. I can sometimes watch his stuff in small doses, but the ones I do watch if his are very few and far between. I have massive respect for what he has done and continues to do though.

Agreed - how anyone can watch him or most of the other:

Interms of target audience I kinda disagree there.

Hes stuck with some deeply untrendy choices. Let's look at his kit, he wears it to death.

His bikes, the ones that he actually sticks with.

His views, especially on the Vstrom were refreshing.

He can actually ride, he clearly enjoys dicking around on a bike. Whether you like him or not.

I find him quite self depreciating which is an endearing feature.

He could easily plug bling bikes and be dripping in Klim but he doesn't.

His feature on buying a number of scruffy old bikes versus buying just one new one which interesting.

His safety episode on drivers - what they actually process pulling out of junctions really really helped me.

I must admit Missenden flyer really isn't for me. I hit the fast fwd...

This and what Steve said. He's not a vlogger in the style of Itchy Boots, it's a sales channel for a shop. From that perspective he does some pretty interesting videos, and he's not scared to say what he thinks. Also he can ride pretty well.

TMF isn't qualified to give out paracetamol.

Understood and agree about the MF, TP1 et al.

Ryan.. meh, he's innocuous enough that I don't get riled but I get your point
