PB now PS Magazine gone…
Discussion
That’s a real shame as I looked forward to my monthly edition.
Monthly sales were running at 18k odd which is pretty far down the sales chats and about half of what Bike are running at.
Given a choice I’d take PS anyday but that not what the market is saying. Possibly the age range it’s aimed at don’t buy magazines but it fitted right into mine.

I get Bike as a freebie gift through my bank. It's a good mag but in these tough times I wouldn't pay the cover price for it, or any other, mag. I wonder if PS would have been viable if they had gone into partnership with a bank or similar organisation, getting some of their income that way. trickywoo said:

I'm surprised anyone is surprised.
I used to read PB back in the day but after the Rupert Paul & Mark Forsyth era I found it went backwards towards a lads mags and tits oot type of magazine so I stopped subscribing. I'm surprised anyone is surprised.
At one point I think PB was outselling Bike by 10 or 20 thousand copies a month!!

Gratuitous?
God I’m gonna seem ancient, but I first started reading BIKE magazine way back in early 1974, when my pal next door, kindly gave me a small pile of BIKE ( I Still have them ! ) that his Honda CB175 complete with white open face lid and goggles - riding older brother wanted rid of. It was absolutely cutting edge @ that time, but todays version is a mere shadow of what it was then !
The problem with a lot of magazines, not just biker ones but the format in general, is that they struggle to compete with the online publications and adapt their models to things like Readly.
Most mags that are still around are shadows of their former selves in the physical domain having shifted their primary content online behind an online subscription model that is either cheaper or offers daily updates; chuck that in with the huge increases in print and distribution costs over the last 5 years and its unsurprising that so many have folded.
It's a shame that its gone, but with the same/very similiar content available online for either free or preanuts I don't think anyone is going to miss out.
