Thinking of chopping my SV650S in for a new bike. Something like a Monster or Street Triple.

My gear is ancient, usually wear Sidi black rain boots which have been fine.

But I’ll be using the bike to stop off in town after work, or to go out for a coffee etc, visit people, and i have never liked walking about in sports style boots.

Wondering if the more “urban” styled boots are actually usable on a middleweight naked bike, i imagine they are “chunkier” than what i amused to, wider sole.

The urban ankle trainer style from your big names feel like normal shoes. Obviously the more protection you want the more they start to feel like boots.

The key protection they will offer is vertical crush protection via the sole if your foot gets run over on its side.

I think the more work boot / shoe style are too clumpy on the bike but it depends on the spacing of the controls on your particular bike.

I have 3 pairs of the Stylmartin boots and high tops, very comfortable, in fact I use both my high tops for everyday use.
Boots are leather (The Ace) and these are my go to for most riding. Have a look at the range.

Just popped into a few bike clothing shops and had a gander. They are no wider than a lot of boots, and normal boots are quite stiff actually.

Like the look of alpinestars J-6. Could wear those with some riding jeans and a plain jacket and no-one would know they were bike shoes I guess.

I have a pair or spada pilgrim boots which I can wear on all my bikes including my RSV4. I didn't appreciate how having a pair of "urban" boots makes using a bike for everyday things much more attractive.

Cheers guys checking those out!

Something like this would be the sort of thing I am after I think. Can still wear the Sidi boots if I go out into the countryside.

TCX have quite a few options in the urban/sneaker style (e.g. Dartwood/Street 3) and Motolegends have a good range of short boots - Clicky

I’ve got a pair of TCX street boots:

I’m very happy with them.

Cleaned my boots last night, realised they are 16 years old and the grip has worn off and now the rubber on the soles has perished and cracked.

I think they are for the bin to be fair. Liking the TCX Dartwood at the moment. Motolegends have a good video about them on YouTube.

I’ve been wearing TCX Dartwoods as casual / commuting boots for a couple of years now and I don’t have a bad word to say about them.

Supremely comfortable, totally waterproof, with a good stiff sole and d30 armour on the ankles.

I can wear mine all day in the office in comfort and with jeans, they just look like a regular casual boot.

Infact I’ll sometimes wear them if it’s a bit rubbish out and I’m not even riding the bike.

I'm about to finish with my second pair of Magnum Swat type boots which I use on my bikes and for hiking/general work.

Waterproof and pretty hard wearing plus comfortable.

The two pairs have lasted me 20 years and will only cost about £60 for a new set.

There have been fancier more expensive versions over the years but the original is still available.

ETA in fact these are them on Amazon for less than £40.

I used to wear magnums for long walks. Did 100's, maybe 1000's of miles when I was younger and training for road marching events! Very comfortable.

Bit of a blast from the past and a happy memory those boots!!

Probably not designed for crash protection though?

I just bought the alpinestars J-6

To my shame it was more about the looks and walking comfort over safety, I am a vain git at heart

The below are the Triumph branded ones, I got the similar ones without the Triumph name

Helstons make some nice looking boots that look like your standard DMs, they were on my radar when I was looking but I never got around to ordering any!

Apparently they come up a little narrow if that's a bother, around £150-£200 mark.
