Bike Show Excel London
Discussion
Overall ok, but getting ever smaller. It’s an expensive few hours, 3 hours max and that is doing everything twice. If you go by car it’s pretty much £50 for ticket and parking before you’ve walked through the door.
Frustrating that Honda weren’t there and the continuing absence of the Piaggio group and MV agusta from UK bike shows is plain annoying. Not sure the sprint track is a good move, ridiculously loud and means you have to walk all the way round when it’s on to get to either side of the halls.
But saying that I enjoyed it, it’s more relaxed than the NEC and the people on the stands have more time to have a proper conversation and answer questions. It’s a day out involving bikes so works for me.

As previously mentioned less stalls than previous years and not many boutique / custom builders to ogle their expensive wares.
Centre drag strip was a novelty for the short time we saw it run, until the Harley went straight through the barriers at the end and cut short the 1:00 show after just a handful of bikes had run! Did they fix it for the later run as we'd done everything twice by than and had left?
Jubilee line was up the shoot today making travel by public transport a challenge. I think it's also not running over the weekend so anyone planning to use that as part of their journey please check before you travel.

They didn't fix the drag strip for the 3.30pm show which was even more of a washout than the 1pm show. They didn't tell the audience why not other than "an unforseen technical problem had occured and they expect to have it fixed for tomorrow". Instead, they had 6 bikes do a leisurely ride up & down the strip one at a time. I was ready to go home after the 1pm show finished early, but my little boy insisted we stay to watch the whole thing, so had lunch & returned, only to be dissapointed.Centre drag strip was a novelty for the short time we saw it run, until the Harley went straight through the barriers at the end and cut short the 1:00 show after just a handful of bikes had run! I'm not a frequenter of the shows, having not been to one for probably 8 years, so can't really give any better/worse than [xx] show opinion.
I hope it's only a Friday thing, but the vast majority of visitors were blokes with grey hair aged 50+. If that's what the Saturday & Sunday's crowd look like, I don't think we'll have much in the way of customers for motorbikes 10 years from now.
I went on Friday and was done within the hour and that was taking my time, seemed worse than last year, what a massive waste of time and money, its half arsed with as more market stalls than manufacturers.
If you're in the market for wheel chairs, however, then theres a fair few to view.
