Does something like this actually exist because I can't find one?

At the moment we are a family of three riders husband, wife and son.

And I own 3 bikes.

At the moment we have a mishmash of insurance policies.

One bike is insured by me with my wife as a named Rider.

Another bike is insured by my wife with me as a named Rider.

Third bike just acquired and not yet insured which is why I want to get everything onto a single policy that I can add further bikes to.

My son has his own biking insurance policy but has also added my wife's bike to his insurance so he can ride it sometimes. He has now sold his own bike but continues to have a policy that covers him to ride my wife's bike.

What I want to do is take out a single policy to insure all three of my bikes for any three of the riders to use them whenever they wish.

I can't find a policy like this even though I have one like this for my cars which allows all four of my cars to be on one policy and anybody in our family of 5 can drive them at anytime.

Usually the whole point of a multi bike policy is that you can only ride one at a time, so they insure you for the bike with the highest risk then add the rest on at a small increase per bike. You might get a whole-house type of policy but I wouldn't think a regular multi bike will be available for what you want.

You would most likely need to use specialist broker to search for and arrange a bespoke policy to cover such a non standard risk, It is unlikely to be cost effective compared to seperate individual policies. It will most likely also have the disadvantage that any NCB will only be valid for one rider and one bike only.

Do you mean he is on your wife's policy, has a second policy for your wife's bike or is using his old policy to ride other bikes?

Not sure a multi bike policy would work for you?

Watch Harry's Garage on YT, he has a policy that insures all of his cars and bikes with various drivers/riders, himself, wife, son and I think select others too, might be an option. His end of year video gives you details of all his costs including insurance and who it's with.

You might want to check that to be 100% sure of cover. Did he tell the insurer that he was not the registered keeper of the motorcycle? When I tried to insure my girlfriends bike years ago (she hadn't passed her test so didn't want to insure it) they wouldn't touch me as it was registered in her name - it was a non-negotiable. He might not have told them as they might not have asked..... Or things might have changed in the years since? Worth checking though as the onus is on the policy holder to tell them everything they want to know whether they ask or not.

Is that a trade policy though?

I don't think so, he's mentioning it in a way that suggests it's available to everybody, I don't remember him saying it's specifically a trade policy.

I may be wrong but I read that as, he had his own old policy with riding other bikes cover, sold the bike but didn't cancel the policy, and is riding under that now? Which, if correct, I'm pretty sure won't stand up if it were needed to in any way.
