Picked up a secondhand Muc-Off bike pressure washer and attachments. Any recomendations for good quality snowfoam?

Another vote for Bilt-Hamber Auto Foam, or Gyeon Q2M.

I quite like it. It probably does as much as other snow foam mixes, ie next to nothing. But very good fun.

From what I can gather it’s more about your pressure washer to some extent.

I’ve got a k2 and no matter what mix or attachment I can’t get past sloppy foam. I started watching a guy called forensic detailing on YouTube and in one he says with stuff like a k2 you’re going to struggle to get proper foam.

Anyway, he does seem to rate the bilthamber stuff, his videos do seem to show it working better than the competition . Just be careful you don’t disappear down a YouTube rabbit hole and before you know it, you’ve lost days of your life watching someone compare clay bars and compounds.

I find my car looks like that for about 5 seconds before it all runs off on to the floor. Does seem kind of pointless.

Mine was dwelling for about 15mn, the pic was taken roughly 5mn after initial application where there was perhaps a 1inch thick layer of the stuff, with a K4. Sounds like your mix was too "wet", as in too much water, not enough air. Sometimes it's tricky to adjust the lance properly or the gauze is blocked up inside it. And I reckon that's why some find a particular snow foam to not be very good.

They still do very little btw, even after 15mnbiggrin

I've always been happy with the Auoglym stuff. My car is ceramic coated so the majority of the time a snowfoam and a blast off does the job perfectly. It's normally if I've left it too long it needs a mitt wash as well.

Autosmart Ultra Mousse, applied in correct quantity is without doubt the best IMO . Tried loads and for value and quality is very good.

Good to hear. How much product do you have to put in a 1L bottle?

I’ve been using the Bilthamber stuff for 12 or so years and haven’t really found anything better.
The valetpro snow foam used to be decent, but I don’t have any recent experience of it so couldn’t vouch for how good or effective it is now?

I tend to put about 25mm of snow foam solution in the lance and fill the rest with warm water.

I got an Autoglym kit with the cannon comprising of Polar Blast, Wash and Seal. The Blast really sticks to the car and takes a while to get off. The wash less so. I found I still needed to use a mitt to get the lower stuff off so didn't quite do the job I was expecting. Will give it a few more goes adjusting concentrations to see if it makes a difference.

It's my go-to.

It's usually well regarded, what makes it ste?

I use this 3-part combo from Autoglym as well, although on the car rather than the bike. Always pleased with the results.

The Polar Wash though, I've always been of the understanding you're supposed to spray it on, then use a wash mitt to agitate, then rinse. The Polar Blast is the non-contact part of the wash which comes first. The Polar Seal seems to do a decent enough job for 2-3 months.

See my previous comment, looks like I've got a rubbish foam lance.

Foam is a waste of time.

Hand pump sprayer from screwfix or similar, put some Bilt Hamber Surfex HD (all purpose cleaner) diluted to suitable ratio.
Spray this on and leave to dwell while you get your bucket and other stuff ready.
Jet wash/hose off.

Adding a snowfoam step for me is a waste of time.
I'm not anti snowfoam but I'm anti wasting time.
Yes youl get photos of snowfoam dripping with brown mud etc but for me it's just show. A good APC like Surfex just does the job without the faff.

Plus for the money, you can use Surfex on anything
Dilute down more for car interiors, strong for stubborn stains, its amazing stuff.

My detailing collect basicly now is just some surfex HD, a decent body wash, maybe a wheel cleaner if I've got a build up of brake dust, a pet drier for air drying the bike and stuff to sort the chain.

Simples

I've got to say, the Polar Wash looks and smells like Muc Off. I've got gallons of the stuff so not sure how close to that formula it is. I might try it in the cannon
