I don’t think I’ve seen a thread on this yet?

What are your biking plans for 2023? What did you have planned for 2022 that never came to fruition?

For me, the major one is taking my Mrs on a European tour for her 1st time.

Almeria in March, joining the Old Gits trip for my first proper tour in June, few more UK TDs, possibly another Euro Oct/Nov, replace the MT10 with a proper old man’s bike, get greenlaning again, few mods to the 750.

My main and quickest win will be to get the leg healed up fully from the accident in September and be back on the (new) bike by the end of March.

I'd also like to do a 'weekend away' heading North with just me and the bike and see where I end up - despite riding for years now and ridden across eastern Europe I've never gotten further north than Cambridge on the bike so would quite like to get up to Yorkshire for a days riding if possible.

Been talking tours with a couple of friends - one option is Algeria, wife keen to join if she swerves the 20 hour ferry from Marseille and joins in Algiers. Not sure if this one will come off.

Northern Spain the other option - maybe more feasible.

Basically a bigish tour.
Could provoke the purchase of a current large adventure bike. Got a finance quote on a GS Adventure but plan to ride Triumph Tiger 1200 and KTM Super Adventure in the next couple of months before commiting. If my wife is not joining I'd be happy to stick with my Honda Crossrunner and not have a monthly payment to make.

Otherwise, venture further afield on my KTM350excf - plan to buy a trailer to take it to Wales for a weekend or two.
Continue commuting on my Xmax300

1st trip to Europe. Probably a couple of days in the Vosges mountains and a day or two in Bruges on the way back.

RBLR1000 - 1000 miles in less than 24 hrs endurance ride. 3rd time but this time on the super adventure and anti clockwise route.

Some more ironbutt stuff.

Margate Meltdown in May.

Nathan Millward of postie bike fame has a sub £1000 challenge. Ie buy a bike for less than a grand and take part in some challenges led by him. Might have a go at that but that means lieky buying something from Facebook marketplace vomit

Getting out as much as I can and trying to dodge a central London commute as much as I can.

Happy biking in 2023!

Step 1. Buy a motorcycle
Step 2. Do some riding of said motorcycle.

I’m not sure how much time I will be able to get out this year, probably going to involve getting the RSV4 out from under its cover in about March and only getting about 1500 miles done if last year is anything to go by frown .

Old Gits trip to the Italian lakes and Dolomites in June will be the highlight but there will be a few weekends in the UK with some of the Old Gits and a trip to Burges with Mrs K1 will be some of the other fun things.

Bought a GSXR 1000 K6 that was very unloved, currently being turned in to a drag bike. Going to drag it at santa pod this year, first time for me age 53.

Get as many miles as I can on the new nineT I picked up in November. Get Maxton to set up and fit some of their cartridges and a rear damper to it.

Get the FireBlade out as much as I can, and rejet the carbs to suit the newly fitted can.

Do the rest of the Rapid Bikemaster course (did level 1 in June and really enjoyed it).

Trackdays at Silverstone, Odiham, Assen for a random selection this year and classic bike days at Castle Combe and Donington.

Then Andalusia or Navarra to finish the year off maybe - not done either yet.

Boy’s road trip to Sachsenring MotoGP via Nurburgring for old time’s sake, Dambuster targets, Harz mountains, Colditz and obviously Autobahn nonsense.

Few trips to the coast and some mid Summer pub bike meets.

Hopefully ancient R1 will stay in one piece!

In 2022 I bought a Triumph Trident 750 off ebay to replace the only bike I ever truly regret selling (another story)

Of course, the bike turned out to be slightly more 'challenged' than anticipated; 2023 will see me fettle it to where I want it to be.

Oh, and I also bought a K1200R on a whim which then turned out to have been properly fettled in the past and a bit of a bargain; 2023 will give me the chance to get my head back together and get back up to speed with a relatively modern, relatively quick bike again.

Bought a very well equipped S1000RR to replace my already very well equipped S1000RR just before Christmas, so first bikey task of 2023 is to get the new one ready for Portimao in May and sell the old one to pay for the new one (if anyone’s in the market for a 2012 S1000RR, give me a shout).

That’ll be the third time at Portimao (not that you could ever get bored of that place), so I’d like to give Aragon or Jerez a go towards the end of the year, all being well, with a few U.K. track days in between.

I’m also really keen to commit to commuting on a bike 365 days as my journey to work is relatively short and it’ll save me a couple of hundred quid a month in fuel (of course it won’t of you factor in the cost of the bike to do it on but that’s the beauty of man maths), so I just need to decide on a bike and “financing” option (once the aforementioned “spare” S1000RR and VFR800 “test commuter” have sold).

I've got a few days in France riding to Folembray & back for a track day in May. I've booked a HRT (nothing to do with women of a certain age!) day at Cadwell in July, both of those with a couple of mates. Also want to fit a couple of weekends away with Mrs B, like Black-K1 we've wanted to go to Bruges for a couple of years now, maybe we'll fit it in during '23.

Happy riding all!

Probably India again for a Himalayan mini adventure, plus a week in the alps, peace and quiet. I went in May last year to the alps and it was one of the best trips I've done there. If you get there when the passes open to traffic it's very quiet and peaceful, also ideal drone flying time. Probably also have another trip in the summer if the weather is warm.

Also looking for something out of the ordinary, Kyrgyzstan possibly.

Early this year, mostly maintenance jobs and a few day trips out as usual.

June - finally go on a postponed 50th birthday trip, ferry from Hull and onwards to Austria, spend 6 days there doing all the passes and back the scenic route through black forest.
