Converting European Vespa to UK spec
Discussion
Hey folks,
Not done anything like this before so appreciate some advice. I have in my possession my dad's 2010 Vespa which was bought and registered in Portugal. It's in good nick, he no longer wants it and moved back from the Algarve a few years ago. I'll bring it up to scratch for Mrs Tank to use for her 3 mile commute in spring/summer.
My question is, what steps do I need to go through to be able to ride it on UK roads? Speedo is in both mph and kmh so no problem there. I know on a car you have to convert the headlights to UK, is that a thing with scooters?
I think I have a handle on the DVLA process although the website says I need "original proof of approval" which is interesting as I only have the original Portuguese registration document, so I'll have to figure out what they need on that front.

AFAIK you need to:
Obtain the NOVA (Notice of Vehicle Arrival) certificate.
Pay whatever HMRC wants.
Ensure that the headlamp beam is OK for driving on the left, i.e. not kicked up to the right.
Put it through an MOT.
Register it.
No vehicle approval document needed because it's more than 10 years old.
