Hi All,

Relatively new biker, bike will be used for the odd weekend blast on open roads and then British and Euro track days in 2023 - Cartagena already booked in March.

I have narrowed my choices down to:

765RS
KTM 890R
Ducati Streetfighter 848 (wildcard ish)

I don’t fancy I4’s - twins or triple only.

Budget £6-8K, Ducati will be older at 2012-15, where as other 2 2018-20 ish, more tech on the later bikes which appeals.

Thoughts please from those with experience.

TIA

In at the deep end but looking forward to lots of learning and making use of the tuition available.

TBH - I had almost decided on the 890R but reliability/build quality stories made me consider the others, which in truth could well have their own quirks…

Would probably be my choice of that ‘type’.

Will you also be commuting? How much of your riding percentagewise will be motorways?

I found (past this year, 4 weeks later solo cross Europe) that a windy front end really pissed me off.

Maybe something with a fairing, sports tourer?

I sold a 765 because of poor quality and have recently got a KTM. It’s early days still but having done some tinkering on the KTM I’m much happier with how it seems to be put together.

I know it’s not an indication of reliability but having confidence in a bike is important for me.

No commuting and don’t plan on any motorway unless I can help it.

Good info thanks, not sure which KTM you have now but I’m keen on a torquier bike and wonder if there’s a big gulf between the 2?

The 765 felt limp to me coming off a gsxr750. If I test rode it I wouldn’t have bought it. I got caught up in the press hype.

The KTM will feel stronger everywhere compared to the Triumph I think.

Doing a bit of reading it seems the 765RS had quite a big update for 2020 so assume it’s considerably better than pre-2020.

How many track days are you going to be doing? I wouldn't want a naked bike for loads of trackdays. With the 765 you could put daytona or track fairings on easy enough.

Why's that? Do 30 track days in the last 2 years on a 675 Street Triple and S1000R
No issues

Just preference’ I don’t want a faired bike.
The Triumph and KTM are pretty track focused so don’t see this as an issue.

I just hate the wind blast at 135 mph and the feeling of holding on for dear life. I find being behind a fairing much more pleasant.

Been to their dealership at Donington a couple of times when I was looking for my latest bike.

Didn’t end up buying from them as a lot of the bikes looked abit cosmetically ropey (Some very ropey!) and they didn’t want to service anything before it left the showroom, put me off abit.

We’ve had a few threads about super bike factory and everyone has been pretty positive as I recall.

I sold them a bike a few weeks ago and found the whole process professional. They seem to like to buy a lot of bikes and turn them over quickly so prices are pretty keen for a dealer.

It looks like they have sold my bike already and they had a 30% premium on what they paid me.

But how many circuits are you over 135mph for any period of time?
