Hi folks, I'm pretty new to the Husky so please bear with me. (2020 701 LR)

Been for a ride a couple of rides this week and nine times out of ten changing down using the clutch whilst coming to a halt the revs increase with each press of the gear lever.

The easy shift works perfectly going up the gears and has the usual false neutrals now and again.

Does anyone else experience this?

Are you sure you’re not rolling the throttle a smidge when using the front brake?

I don't know what 'easy shift' means so assumed it meant quickshifter.

Is it not an up & down QS? I.e the bike is auto-blipping the throttle for you on the downshifts? Trying clicking the bike down a gear without the clutch and see what happens?

Husqvarna call theirs 'Easy Shift' their version of 'Quickshift'. A husky dealer told me that the throttle needs to be shut of for the down shifts because they do not have an 'Auto blipper'.

It will down shift without the clutch albeit a little clunky but it's when the clutch is in that it sounds like it's auto blipping.

I think I'll take it in the dealers and ask them about it. I have read on the net about some people having experienced a similar thing and the dealer has sorted it.

I have a KTM 690 SMC R, similar vintage. Same engine & similar running gear. It does exactly the same as yours - I understand it's just an auto-blip as others have described. However, there is an anomaly which is oddly annoying: if I gradually slow down, say coming up to traffic lights in town, I'll click into neutral for the last few yards & the engine will continue to rev unless I manually blip the throttle. I don't think these things are really designed for city traffic, so it's just something one learns to ride around.....

Thanks' Biker1' at least I'm not the only one experiencing this, that's good to know.

Just an update. It now revs every time I pull the clutch in and change down. This cannot be normal? I'm going to ask the dealer about it and see if it needs a software update or something. It's very annoying especially when you're approaching stationary traffic and changing down.

There is no mention of Easy Shift in the 2020 Enduro 701 LR Owner's Manual, but it is in the 2021 Enduro 701 manual. No info on switching it off.

No LR manual for 2021.

Is it possible that it has an aftermarket quickshifter?

Auto blip to match the revs with the speed for smoother downshifts. Personally I don’t think you’re riding it hard enough or something. Think the bike is doing what it should be. My 2022 690 smcr can be funny with gear changes but once you start riding like a hooligan it makes more sense.

Yep - these things are for thrashing, not for commuting!
I think the quick shifter is great from 3rd gear upwards: pin the throttle, redline the engine & simply bash away with your left toes. Totally addictive, but I find the down shift harsh/clunky. I had the dreaded clutch slave cylinder failure some time ago, so rode home 20 miles with quick shift only. Not a pleasant experience, particularly as there were several sets of traffic lights en route....

The 2020 model does have the 'Easy shift' but no 'Auto blip' (Husqvarna dealer told me) and I do try and ride like a hooligan!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but an Auto blip equipped bike you don't need to use the clutch to change down and will rev up slightly whereas with mine I can change down the gears without engaging the clutch although a bit clunky but it's when I change down using the clutch it revs if you know what I mean.

It's not something basic like the clutch is out of adjustment and not fully disengaging when you pull the lever in?

I would explain the problem to the KTM/Husqvarna dealer and ask them if it's normal and get one of their Mechanics to test ride it to check it's operating correctly.

I backed out of a deal to buy a bike (not a KTM or another brand of whatever that KTM group is called) last year as there was an issue that I was unaware of with the bikes when I agreed to buy. Some of the owners experiencing the problem were using helmet cams to record the problem and then show the dealers.

That's the first thing I checked and it's fine so I'm going over to Corwen in north Wales today to the Husky dealer and have a chat and report back. beer

Some Dealers are better than others - personally I find it's best to Google and ask on the specific make / model forums / FB before visiting the Dealer

Well, I popped over to the Husky dealer, he had never heard of this problem before so he got it into the workshop and plugged it in. All was good until he tried to start the bike and it wouldn't start. A lot of head scratching later and the starting problem was found.

What were the odds of me riding 60 miles to him and then find that a wire from the clutch micro switch had come off, hence, the bike wont start!

So, he's ordered the part and then I'll go back and have it recalibrated and all 'should be' fine. I managed to ride it back home but with no quick shifter. Watch this space.

Just to add, CF racing in Corwen were very good and friendly.

That's good! It looks like the fault has been found and you've found a good dealer. It'll be sorted before the better/warmer weather arrives.

Thought I'd share (same motor). The Quickshifter and Blipper may have been updated by the time your bike was made, fifth segment in at 3 minutes 20 seconds:
