I usually think Dirty Garage Guy can be a bit harsh on Del's Garage but Jesus fking wept this was painful. Arse about face is an understatement.

I can't stand the guy, what a st show.
There's nothing wrong with Dels channel he's just a competent home mechanic making intresting videos that help people out.
The other guy is so boring he has to make videos picking holes in other people just to get his views up.
The effort he went to in that video to prove a point and didn't actually prove anything is pathetic.

His point is wrong, too. The bolt holding the damper rod is not the drain bolt. And by the time you’ve got the front wheel off, to get to that bolt you might as well remove the forks!

Vacuuming the oil out of a simple damper rod fork like this is as good as any way as there’s no shim stacks or much valving to clog up. If I saw oil come out of a cartridge fork like that I’d probably want to get the cartridge out and strip it down…

Yep remarkable that he's got a channel where he will spend an hour ripping into anything and everything he can within a ten minute clip.

Half his content is him searching for evidence that the other guy is wrong. Watching someone else surf the net while whingeing? Er, run that by me again?!

I like Del's clips, they do the job and they're not padded out to fk with time wasting. I'm pleased to see he's been able to expand his workshop and kit it out better, good on him.

T'other fella seems to be sat in a cramped corner of a festering noisy garage, throwing st at the walls.

I opened this thread knowing nothing about bikes or forks or any of that .... and wow that other guy is a miserable b*****d! Does he really spend his time making hour-long videos picking holes in another guy's videos?

I'm genuinely amazed!

Like the time he was advising you to change the coolant on your bike by running it up to operating temperature and then removing the radiator cap...

He really isn't. Also have you seen the quality of his paintwork done in a spray booth.

The quality of everything - his welding is comically bad, just generally st skills. Usually just rubbish, but occasionally dangerous as noted with the coolant change that mysteriously disappeared.

That said, I must admit, I enjoy the workshop videos having a laugh at how st he is, maybe that makes me a bit petty, but it's done from a valid point from Matt's POV.

On the forks front, as soon as you've seen oil like that coming out, surely you'd fetch them off, strip down and give them a right good clean?

For the time it takes to get a pair of forks off, and you save all that jacking up and down nonsense.

The bloke ripping the pi$$ out of it didn’t really offer much though, did he.

There's an established rivalry between the two. I think it started with Matt picking up on some comments from viewers that Del was deleting. This escalated over time and I believe at some point Del tried to get Matt's channel shut down, and reported Matt to the police (who gave him a visit) for harassing his missus or something (which he hadn't).

I think Delboy seems a nice guy and have watched some of his videos before, I have no idea if what he is doing right or wrong.

Maybe we should arrange these two to go be on the undercard of these internet boxing events punch

You forgot my personal favourite... changing your brake fluid by forcing the new fluid up from the caliper to the reservoir using a big syringe.

Or saying you ride 9000 miles a year, change the oil on camera only for it to come out looking brand new. wink

It really isn't though, that's the point. It's instantly contaminated with ste again the moment you mix it in. It's one thing bodging about on your own but something entirely different to portray yourself as somewhat of a professional who can be trusted. It's not the first time he's made a complete tt of it.

And the person commenting with a personal vendetta does a great job of demonstrating his expertise, eh? Perhaps he should make some videos of his own, explaining the process. Or just take a cheap crap shot.

The pair of them are as bad as each other. The point I was making is, if you're going to make an issue of someone's technique, at least get your facts straight. If you want to clean all contamination out of your forks, you don't take the damper rod bolt out and expect it to act as a drain, removing every piece of contamination.

This is actually accurate: https://youtu.be/9gYz4KmNxjU

Del would seem like a nice guy, if it weren't for him not really know what he's doing and bullstting instead like he's a pro.

Some of the best youtube content is to be honest with this kind of thing - when he's tackling a job he's not sure about, he should say so.

The second thing I'd say is that eventually someone will be following his bodging ways on his videos and hurt themselves. Less so now he's doing fabrication, but more when he's bodging maintenance jobs.

Of the two videos the second is way more painful to watch and I skipped through most of it !

The second guy talks like he's an expert but he's not, he knows more than I but some of the things he says are incorrect

Some are just silly - if the forks were operating ok with 100% old dirty oil (and they generally do) then how are they going to operate with 98% or 100% new oil - the same !

In the case of that bike, they're non adjustable damper rod forks, so the damping will be - at best - pretty ste.
