I just stumbled onto this video showing motorcycle tanks being made and found it interesting so thought I'd share it

https://youtu.be/LpxVRyBCvmU

The speed they make them, that they make them from scratch with relatively simple processes to the way they throw them around, including the guy who's job seems to be to rectify them

laugh

Not sure what the guys job is at the end, who whacks them with a stick but I'm sure I could do it

Good-looking product for such rough and ready production

This video is doing the rounds on a few FB pages im on, it partially explains why they have a deserved reputation for not fitting well at all .

Ive seen two (tried on an LC and a YSR) , they where terrible up close , explains why the price of good secondhand tanks for older bikes remain at silly money.

Indian LC tanks are shocking in fit and finish. And yet people still buy them and then moan , plenty of info about avoiding them.

When you see how they chuck 'em about after every piece of work they do, it's not surprising the end result is crap.

Given the number of guards on the machines, and the protective clothing worn by the machine operators I suspect a fair few tanks include additional blood and body parts. yikes

The xt500 tanks appears to be a bit hit and miss , some don’t even fit and some people seem happy with them .

I've heard mixed reviews on Indian made tanks. Some fit, some don't and some need brackets etc moving.

It's the ranomness of the quality that puts me off trying. We tried to get a tank made in the UK a couple of years ago for a vintage bike. Two people started but both dropped the job, so if I was talented I'd be either making tanks or buying these Indian ones and modifying them to fit properly. Charge a couple of hundred quid more but guarantee they'll fit!

I think I've seen it. This is the world people that bang on endlessly about 'health and safety gone maaad' want to go back to lol.
Still they are efficient and im sure the price is reflected in the quality.
Sure there is some craftsman that will make you one in the uk for £5000. And it still wont fit.

They do look brilliant. When I was planning a Triton they were going to be who I contacted, but I don't think they do steel tanks for older bikes?

Thing is they can be made, and made well.

Hi Level? All gone and not coming back. They did have their problems too, although much better quality.

Sorry yes Hi level.

Yes run has ended, but there was a fair few made.

Didn't see too many complaints, but I guess there is always the odd issue.
