Hornet 600 engine noise
Discussion
Hi all
Just noticed by 2009 Hornet 600 has started making an identical noise to the one in the video below, around 2-4k revs when accelerating and decelerating. Disappears when you put the clutch in. Video shows the noise exactly like mine towards the end of the video. What do you reckon? Normal cam chain noise or something more sinister? Video comments suggest it's fine but I'd rather ask a different bunch of strangers instead.

Thanks all, that's reassuring. It's mainly just quite an annoying noise (it's definitely coming from the top end) so was hoping to see if I could st it up.

Normal for Honda's, slightly out of balance carbs or worn clutch components
Thanks, it's injected but I think the TB's need balancing anyway as it's a little vibey, so might be related.fred bloggs said:
The only time bike injection throttle would ever need synchronizing, is if somebody messed with them.
Throttle body synchronisation is listed as a 6k mile service task on Triumphs. If it was expected to only ever need doing after someone had fiddled, it wouldn't be listed like that.fred bloggs said:

The noise is more likely a cam chain tensioner. They fail quite regularly on hondas.
As above, I disagree with your first paragraph, but I do agree it's probably the CCT. I came here to see if anyone with more experience than I might be able to confirm yay or nay on the CCT and basically whether I need to get it looked at (CBA doing CCT myself) or if "they just all do that sir".The noise is more likely a cam chain tensioner. They fail quite regularly on hondas.
