Although Peugeot had almost 100 years of experience in the construction of motorized two-wheelers and they already offered an 80 Enduro (TXE 80, see picture) on the domestic market, the decision to enter the German market was difficult.
So you could have played in 1981 from the start
Mopeds and mokicks were already sold, but the Peugeot TLX 80 only came to German dealers in 1982.
With appropriate marketing, more of the sales shares would certainly have been possible, since the TLX 80 had separate lubrication, a chrome-coated cylinder, 5-speed gearbox and adjustable spring struts, as well as a rev counter and cockpit fairing.
On the negative side, on the other hand, there was an outdated motor with 7.2 hp and a contact-controlled 6 volt system.
Also, at a price of a good 3,300 DM, one could certainly not call it an attractive special offer.
Nevertheless, the TLX lasted until 1985. After that, Peugeot withdrew from the German light motorcycle market and only marketed the Honda Lead 80 scooter as the Peugeot SC 80.
Year of manufacture: 1981-84
Motor: air-cooled, 5-speed, 7.2 hp, max. torque 7.27 NM
Tank: 8.8 liters / of which 1.3 liters is a reserve
Weight: 99 KG, permissible total weight 246 KG
Telescopic fork with 180mm spring travel, rear shock absorber 3-way adjustable
Brakes v & h 140 mm diameter, front tires 2.50-21, rear 3.00-21
Price: 3,280 DM
Colour. blue yellow
Hope that helps, Benni
