Seems ok to me, I’m not worried that someone rides a bike around their local street without a helmet. I do it all the time.

It's a recent change to eBay that allows people to upload a video. I can't see it attracting extra bids though, most will think, what a tool. rolleyes

From the replies I was expecting him to hoist a wheelie or something, but he's just showing it runs isn't he? Not legal obviously as bike is not registered in the UK, but not reckless or causing anyone else an issue, looks a quiet road.

It's hardly like it's the opening lap of a motogp race....

I was waiting for him to wheelie it and bin it or something.

Seems like a good idea to show it running like that though, no?

Committing driving offences on camera not the smartest move.

Seems ok to me, you can see and hear the bike, hear gear changes and no untoward noises, also he is not trying to hide his face.

What's the issue? I thought he was going to say "Watch this you !" and pop a wheelie.
Watched the video, road it ok, bike sounded fine, looks nice. He did not even speak.

Move along.

(Unless the Op is the guy in the video in which case, sneaky!)

I was really waiting for him going WOT, wheelie or binning it.

Why does it put people off the see someone riding a bike which is for sale?

For some it would have been on their 3 mile private drive way, acceptable without helmet? Others don’t have that luxury or ability to take it to a private Carpark to show it running.

Ha! It’s not me, that would have indeed been sneaky

Riding without the helmet is one offense, riding a bike without it the required paperwork and insurance are a few more, then the icing on the cake is riding it on the pavement.

When servicing and maintaining my bike, I have taken it for a few meters run without a helmet on, but if you are going to prepare a video for thousands to watch, I think it’s worth at least attempting some degree of legality. Otherwise one may think that the seller is not adverse to illegal activity in his pursuit of his trade

Given that the Police don’t have resources to investigate burglaries/thefts I very much doubt this would feature anywhere on their radar. Imagine how ludicrous it would be if somebody watched the video and a) decided to make a complaint to the police, b) the police actually used resources to investigate it, and c) how the conversation with the CPS would go. I think the seller can sleep easy, thankfully.

Like others, I was expecting the seller to pull a wheelie or something equally “reckless”. If I was interested in the bike, the listing/video would not put me off.

On a very quiet side street, doing a gentle run up and down without abusing the bike isn’t going to put me off buying.

Tbh, I wouldn’t assume that. May as well say anyone who has ever broken a speed limit is likely fiddling their tax return.

We live down a wee single track road and several of the neighbours own bikes and it’s not uncommon on a weekend day to see one of us testing a repair up and down the road without kit. No big deal IMO.

If you are interested in buying it, you can see the bike runs, gears/clutch works. Any offences committed are upto him.

Not a bad way of attracting views actually. We are all talking about it. May have to do the same next time I sell.
