NEC Motorcycle Live 2022
Discussion
It’s coming up. I’ve never been. I am shopping. Worth bothering or just stick with the local dealers?
Are the bike parking/storage arrangements convenient?

I go every year but I live near
Previous years the bike parking is excellent - undercover and nearby
I pay a pound or two to hang my jacket / trousers in the cloakroom and chain my helmet to the bike
It's great if you want to see lots of different bikes as Dealers are pretty spread out these days
I always have a go on a few bikes (take your license) last time I went out on a Rocket 3 it's admittedly a short route and the Rocket was definitely detuned
Not much stuff on sale in recent years - a few jackets / helmets etc but that's it

Same here.
Go every year, pretty much. Just to say hi to ex-colleagues on the BMW stand mostly and then have a good nose around some new bikes.
Buy some cheap ACF50 then head home. The whole show can be easily done in 4 - 5 hours I would say and I don’t know about anyone else but I find it gets smaller and smaller every year.
Does anyone remember the days of George White taking up an entire hall with just bike clothing?!

I have bought a ticket this year having moved closer to the NEC (but not too close). I will be driving but is it worth taking my helmet and gloves if there are test rides on offer?
Can do but they provide all the gear main thing is to remember your licence The test rides are very limited - I fancy trying an elec bike if there are any
A quick google found this, looks like there is one elec bike and then what looks like a very dull indoor "electric test ride zone"

I would always go each year plus the London Excel Show in February. However, I haven’t been since 2018, so I’m definitely going this year.
Not sure whether I’ll be doing a test ride as it will probably be too cold for me Furthermore I’m not sure whether the test bikes are on fully comprehensive or 3rd party only.

I went before COVID and it was fully comp but £500 excess. Quite good fun to bulk out the day, I got through the rest of the show fairly quicklyTheInternet said:

No show from Piaggio Group either, so therefore no Moto Guzzi or Aprilia.
They didn’t go last year. The excuse last time was not enough time after ICMA to get the export sorted to the UK as it was all still a bit chaotic, if the manufacturer isn’t there the bikes aren’t allowed to be displayed. Krazy Horse had rather a bare stand because of it. Certain manufacturers have got a slapped wrist before trying to circumvent this as it is a manufacturer show.

I'll be going, but it's nothing like it was years ago unfortunately, it's 2-3 hours at best these days then I'll probably go the JHP and Caffeine and Machine.

I heard by a YouTubist that there will be an electric bike trial area this year as well. It's tempting me to go. Although Liverpool to Birmingham on a 125 doesn't appeal. Might take the car or train..
There'll be no trains on the 26th at the very least. If RMT talks break down other days could be off the cards too.Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
