Hi everyone

I just wanted to pull on your collective experience with aftermarket indicators. I bought a project bike that had none, my sister had some spare eBay special LEDs going that I put on, all went well. However, the issue that I've had with these rubber mounted flexible ones is that the rubber that goes around the threaded tube on two of the indicators has split/pulls the rubber off the thread as I tighten the nut. Is this caused by me overtightening or were they just poor quality?

Pretty much all aftermarket indicators I can find seem to be essentially the same design, so if I replace these am I going to have the same issue? It's a 2003 so going back to factory is likely to be even mroe expensive than just buying aftermarket. I have two mounting holes on the fairing for the indicators, but all the aftermarket ones seem to be disigned ot mount through a single hole, I'm not sure if that makes any real difference though

You need fairing blanks which go into the hole then the indicators go into those.
Also sounds to me like you're over tightening, they literally just pinch tight it's not a stressed part so don't need to be particularly tight.

I buy loads of £10ish ebay indicators (to replace the even worse tat that's currently fitted)

Never had a problem, maybe they were particularly poor quality or old and perished ?
