Think I will buy one on Saturday, good history, been serviced, new tyres, 38k, 7 months mot, well under a grand.
I like the looks and specs, thing it would compliment my TDM and FJ.
Anyone have any experience of them ?

They are good bikes, a decent one with recent consumables is a good buy for under a grand, just make sure second gear is ok and it'll be fine I'm sure.

I spent many hours on one when I was learning. Great bike. Gearbox is a bit clunky but this is normal. Under seat exhausts look cool. I ended up buying a Hornet but would have been equally happy with a Fazer.

Thank you, I have 2 Yamaha’s already, neither have smooth gearboxes.

I owned a 2008 Fazer (the S2 model with better brakes - blue spot four pots rather than two piston sliders) - for a number of years and a lot of miles. Some points to note:

I sold it to a breakers at 44k as I planned to replace the swingarm bearings. That's the change interval, and by the time I got into them they needed doing. Unfortunately the rear subframe was rusty, as was the swingarm under the rubber chain guard, and a lot of the bolts. I sacked it off as uneconomical to repair just in parts and I'd lost interest. I'd also just spent a small fortune getting the exhaust headers changed due to a blow that would have caused an MOT failure.

Up until then it had been pretty fuss free. At sub £1k you're essentially shedding - keep it in oil and filters and keep an eye on bearings. They are fun to ride and good on fuel. But they do like to rust so keep an eye on that

I think the earlier fzs600 is better, but for under a grand you don't have much to lose.

I would agree... bar the candles for lights obviously...

One of the reasons I have kept mine and not 'upgraded' to a newer version....

Yes the facelift "foxeye" is the one to go for.

I do love the early boxeye, can’t get a good one for the price I am paying for the fz.
