Collected my KTM 690 Duke yesterday (so new bike day technically yesterday) and loved the ride home. Supplied from a main dealer so had a full service, new chain and sprockets, front spindle, brake pads and discs and a few other bits. They kept finding things they needed to do to bring it to "Main Dealer Standard" so worked out well for me. Great fun so far from the big single.

Excellent, I bought one about 14-15 months ago also from a main dealer as my first big bike, allegedly previously owned by one of their "techs". What year is it, can see it's the last model, mines is 17 which I think is the first of the last iteration. Great to ride and easy to move around.

They are great fun! This is a 2018. Looking forward to getting some miles in

Is this your first big bike OP? I've had a svartpilen 701 (essentially the same bike) for 2 years and I'm still enjoying it

No not at all, just something different. Last bike was a Honda CB1300. Had all sorts. Just fancied a big single to play around with. Its not fast but certainly fun. Seems the thing to do is change the gearing slightly.

The gearing isn't great especially around city limits as there just never seems to be a gear for 20 or 30. Let me know what you do gearing wise I'd be interested in changing my setup slightly.

I've recently put one of these smart moto fan over ride switches as the standard cooling setup is errrrr "just adequate" and no more. Some suggest a lower temp thermoswitch but I've gone the other way with a manual switch. Mate made a bit plate which fits onto a generic motorbike handlebar bracket to house the switch.

Very nice.

How many miles and are you aware of any works that have been carried out, engine-wise?

I have the same engine and plan to put a fair amount of miles on it, hopefully.

Currently on 14k. No receipts for any engine work other than normal servicing. I believe they are pretty good...or at least hope they are!

Congrulations. I like orange wheels and handguards.

I've ridden one. It was a lot of fun and managed to make me look like a semi competent rider.
