Hi has anyone used we buy any bike before?

I've just ordered a new bike but likely it won't be in the UK till early 2023 so on that basis the dealer didn't want to give me a part ex value.

I went online and checked webuyanybike who offered £6600 then 30 mins later upped it to £7200, I'm just wondering would that be roughly what I would get from my dealer if I went for a part ex deal, or do we buy any bike just offer lowball values from the start?

I sold my Z900RS to WBAB, their price was fair and about the same (6800) as I was offered as px against a new bike, quite a simple process really and no attempt to chip on price on collection.

They are currently advertising it for about what I originally paid, with 4000 miles on a 70 plate with a couple of marks, the finance offered is madness, total repayable is something daft like 14k.

You really need to ask a different dealer what they will offer you as px against a new bike, but I'd imagine it'd be similar to what WBAB offer, although there might be other incentives available.

Thanks, I've emailed the dealer who aim buying the new bike from but they are yet to respond, I was offered £8750 a year ago on a possible part ex then, wonder what my dealer will offer if they ever reply.

I don’t want to hijack the thread but my question is related to the OP’s question:

Typically (and I know there are variations) - how much do you lose with a part-ex price?

For example, if you see bikes similar to yours being advertised for sale for £15k, what would you expect to receive for part-ex?

WBAB seem to be operated differently to WBAC, in that the amended online quote is typical rather than something that might happen when you turn up with the vehicle and it's nothing like the description. The offer on my Desert Sled went from £6,000 to nearly £9,000 in 30 minutes, which I found quite a bizarre way to operate. I kept it in the end. More helpfully, maybe, the WBAB offer on the SV I traded for the Sled in the first place was more or less identical to the part exchange value I got at the dealer, and PXing was a lot easier because it had a load of mods I didn't want to bother reversing and the dealer got to look at them, rather than me having to list them all.

That's how they've been with me in 2020 and 2022. Their highest TXT offer in May this year was 15% higher than it was in 2020.

Their highest 2020 offer was 15% below the trade in offered against a discounted Z650 and their highest May 2022 offer was 25% less than what I'd initially been offered against a discounted to £8K Tuono 660.

I think WBAB left two voice mail messages in May/June 2022 wanting to discuss their offer.

Presumably the WBAB offers are if you sell it to them now, whereas the dealer won't commit to a price until you are nearly ready to exchange in case the market softens in that time.

Yep correct, plus they don’t know when they will get the bike into the showroom tbh.

I’ll pop them up on the private market for now and see what happens…

My only experience with We Buy Any Bike was that they refused to make an offer on the rubbish Lexmoto I was getting rid of. I mean, I don't blame them but "We Buy Most Bikes" would be more accurate.

I contacted them about my 06 Yamaha FJR and they didn't respond at all. Maybe it should be, We Buy Some Bikes.

I've heard good reviews, based on what they offer and what they give. They are nearly always true to their initial price. Vs part ex, they once gave me an offer about £500 higher than I was offered part ex.

I've not used them, as the offer they gave for my R1 was about half what they were selling for privately, and they flat out said they were not interested in my Guzzi. To be fair to them, the R1 had limited service history, and my Guzzi V7 despite being new isn't that desirable, as ebay is oversaturated with them.

I've sold 20 cars, and 10 bikes over the last decade, all private sales. I've never had any offer from a dealer or trade that was worth going ahead with compared to sticking it on ebay. I understand they need to make profit, but offering me £1500-£2k on a bike thats regularly selling for £5k seems pretty crap. Also, despite many people saying private sale is a faff, that's not been my experience at all (apart from one time, but I call that an anomaly).

I looked to WBAB to buy my MT07 recently. They offered £4200 which was about £800 less than the local dealer had offered. Local dealer then backed out as they had taken 3 MT07 in PX and the owner didn’t want to risk a 4th. (Fair enough). The local dealer recommended another independent garage who gave me £5k for it and was quite honestly brilliant from start to finish. The easiest selling experience I’ve ever had!

WBAB never came back with a higher price.

WBAB bought a very rough bandit 650 from me. Upped the price 30 minutes after the first call.
I was very honest with the bad state of the bike with photos to prove and on collection they started haggling and trying to change offer.
They took it for their first offer when I said its that or nothing.

As with most things it varies, it depends on the bike, the time of year etc

It's worth getting a price from we buy any bike before going to a dealer but I easily beat their prices - for the type of bikes I want (sub £6k)

Not many dealers would want to buy stock at this time of year unless it's very cheap

Still find it intriguing how dealers think tbh, had a quote on the same model of a used bike from two different main dealers.
One offered me £5500 part ex against my bike and another main dealer offered me £6750 part ex against my bike?

Such a difference between the two, bit of an obvious way to go if I decide to do a deal…

I've been looking at new bikes recently and dealers have just looked on ebay or autotrader in front of me, seen rough comparison prices and offered £1500-2k less. That's on a £7.5k ish (trade sale) bike
