Yep I’ve bought a Chinese!

Never had a bike before or had lessons etc.
So at the ripe old age of 53 I’ve decided to have a go.
Bought this bike prematurely but I liked it and the price was right for me. It’s a 2021 Zontes 310R. Loads of good reviews online so took a leap.
It’s only done 1700 miles. I’ve given it an oil change and amateur check over. Seems well made as reports suggested so hopefully a good buy.
Been up and down our land on it but that’s all for now of course.
Time to get lessons booked!

Looks good and there is nothing wrong with owning a Chinese bike these days, enjoy.

Decent reviews for them. https://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/zontes...
Looks like a good place to start.

^ this.

The Chinese know how to make motorcycles. They make and sell more of them than any other country in the world. The top 4 manufacturers of motorbikes in the world are all in Asia. (China, India, Vietnam, Indonesia) Neevsy rates the Zontes 310 and is very complementary: https://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/zontes...

Enjoy and have fun!

I've probably noticed before and forgotten that KTM Duke 690, 390, 790 and 890 lattice design on the swing arm. That's a detail that presses my buttons.

I like the exhausts and front forks on your motorcyle. And the decent length front mudguard.

I'd ride that.

What are the tyres? I know KTM improved on the tyres for their 2017 Duke 390 and I saw some new Duke 125s in a showroom in May that Michelin Pilot Sports on them that impressed me much.

That rear numberplate mounted there like that may reduce the amount of crud from the road that ends up over your back and the back of your helmet.

The tyres are CST which I think are sort of own brand. Mine has the road version rather than the dual purpose ones. Apparently not bad at all, but I’m the wrong person to say lol

I got to the MCN Neeves review for your bike from the link posted above. It read well. I think it said the tyres gripped.

Those Viet and Indo bikes are probably Chinese.

Small bikes are ste but I hear good things about larger bikes.
Looks nice.

I can't comment on Chinese bikes but given they build for many other non-Chinese brands I'd suggest they have plenty of experience and knowledge to draw on. The bike looks great - now you just need to get so you can use it! biggrin

CST are a Chinese brand but are a huge tyre manufacturer for everything – cars, lorries, off-road trucks, motorcycles, scooters. Their tyres are decent but not cutting-edge, perfectly adequate for a new rider on a lower-powered machine.

Didn’t they used to say “Jap crap” back in the day. Now look where they are.

Or were they actually a bit crap, like some Chinese stuff?
I’ve had 70s Toyotas and my mate has a 50s Honda. Still on the original engine!

Go on then, how much? I see there's a similar mileage '18 model on AT up for £3.8k, which seems nuts to me.

£2600 private

Local bike place to me is a dealer.

Bought oil filter from Roadhouse near Stamford. Just walked in when passing.
Loads of dealers so presumably reasonable aftercare. 2 year warranty on new ones
The one on AT is the same bike featured in a few YT vids. And too expensive!
A new GK 350 is around £4500. Good looking bike I think but I liked this one and thought it worth a go

It is a good looking bike your one. (Only thing I’d change is that horrid hugger. Looks like it’s from a Honda MSX!)
