First time since 1953 GB have won, and as a bonus, the women won their competition.

As ever though, off-road motorcycle racing gets overlooked - these guys (and girls) are just as talented as the circuit racers.....

In the early 2000’s there was a superbiker event at Donnington. The events were supermoto,mx and a bit of track riding.
The winner was David Knight.

I have only been following enduro for about a year but I’m blown away by the skill level of the top riders.

Great result.

But Enduro just isn't a very big sport over here, I'm guessing because there isn't enough off road areas that are accessible to practice or hold big events, where as some of the countries in mainland Europe including France have vast areas.

I think I'm right in saying the last time the ISDE was held in the UK was Wales 1983.

I do both. Really hard to compare, as asides from the fact they're both on a motorbike, they're two totally different sports

There are very many different types of enduro, from hare scrambles to very tricky hard enduro and usually they are very well subscribed, I have a friend who competes regularly and there are nearly always 100 or so riders doing each one, and we live in the South East where you would think it would be impossible to do this.

Most events are run on private land via farmers who are happy to allow the very small intrusion for a reasonable profit for giving often a small part of their land up, we usually only use field edges and fields with no crop obviously but most of it is in wooded areas that do not damage his land.

The ISDE is what I call a proper navigational enduro, using maps etc, these are not as common, mainly in common rally areas like Wales and Kielder, and are obviously more expensive to compete in.

Hare scrambles, well you could probably find one to do every weekend within 50 miles of you location, they are that common.

It was, in Builth Wells. I remember going to it as a kid.

Yep, my Dad was one of the Travelling Marshalls "opening & closing" the course. Unfortunately I was too young to ride on the road at the time.

Have marshalled a few Welsh 2 Day events since though 1990's and early 2000's.
