Well played Sir!!
I'm about to pull the trigger on one of these ....

I did my first trial the other day in the Canadian wilderness on the 300 2T and to be fair, after 6 years off a bike i was fecking knacked!!
But I rode a guys 300 4T and loved it, so much less work than the 300 2T..... So, why not.....

My bike is currently located at the importers warehouse in Vancouver. Will be shipped ot Ontario in the coming days as I dropped the deposit today.
But loving the Cota, had an early Monty some years ago so have a real soft spot for them. Only here is support whereas the Beta is so well supported ..
Enjoy!!

Good to hear bud, I bet the wait for it to be delivered is killing you though!

Having worked for over 20 years for USA software companies, both in Boston and San Francisco, I never thought of my us colleagues as having the slightest inkling what a trials bike was!
I remember buying my previous montesa cota 315R back in 2005, and a sales meeting at a hotel in the back bay in Boston, I showed them the pictures of my new bike, and not one of them had a clue as to what it was!
Only the guys from the Canadian offices had a clue, as most of them owned Polaris Skidoo’s and played in the snow in the back country, so we’re as close to bike petrol heads as you could get.
I guess I wrongly assumed that trials bike were quite a quirky British country gent type sport, although admittedly it’s actually a much bigger sport in Europe, particularly France and Spain and of course Spain is the home of Montesa too.
My very first motorcycle ever was a Honda XL150, and I have owned many many other Hondas since then, with my current road bike, well adventure bike is a Honda Africa Twin DCT.
So you could say Honda dna is in my blood, hence the love for Montesa’s which are as close to a real Honda as you can get!
Hope you get your bike soon, and have great fun with it too!
I forgot to add that I can’t buy a new bike without a new helmet to match it, so I invested in this lovely new Airoh Carbon helmet!
It’s so light, about 840 grams, you hardly know it’s actually on your head!

And that buckle is just a work of art too! It’s made out of titanium, and has the nicest latching noise you could ever wish for!
It’s just so satisfying, it reminds me of my Silver DuPont lighter when you flip out the top, such a simple pleasure to behold.

I was actually very surprised at the turnout for the last event. Lots of Brits there as well but trials seems to be a thing here in Canada... Also great support for bikes, parts and gear from a couple of good outlets.Having worked for over 20 years for USA software companies, both in Boston and San Francisco, I never thought of my us colleagues as having the slightest inkling what a trials bike was!

So my new girl is getting the race PDI, basically a complete strip down and re-grease of everything and then all the shexy parts being fitted like Apico levers, CSP billet bits and protection. Also ordered a spare clutch pack to fettle seperately as the Beta clutch feel can be hit and miss on the bikes. My current 300 is ok, my previous was horrid so something definately worth looking at.
Also for the Honda, I came perilously close to ordering the Monty Cota Factory Repsol (when no one is looking I am Tony Bou!!) but there's no real dealers /support in the East. Ok for Vertigo, Beta, TRS etc but Montesa seems to be out in the West exclusively really. Shame really
Now I need to tidy my 2T up and ready her for sale... I suspect she'll be as popular as a ginger step kid once the 4T arrives..

I wanted a new Montesa Repsol Factory too, I just love the colour scheme, but at £8299 it’s way above my budget, my 4RT was less than £4k, so pretty much half the new price, which suits me because it’s a bit scraped and scratched in some places, which is fine as it’s bound to get chucked down a hill soon by me!
Mine also has some trick bits on that’s I didn’t realise, Like the S3 world handlebars and alloy end caps, and the S3 foot pegs too.
It also has the Braktec brake and clutch master and slave cylinders set up too, apparently the std brakes lack feel
And bite, so these are a common option, not cheap at over £700 for the full set up.
Here’s a pic of a 2022 model to dream about for when I make my millions, perhaps next year eh?

I bought a Trials bike in lockdown for a bit of fun in the garden
TBH I used it for an hour and put it back in the garage - I'll have to dig it out and sell it
Which translates as:TBH I used it for an hour and put it back in the garage - I'll have to dig it out and sell it
I bought a Trials bike in lockdown for a bit of fun in the garden. TBH, I'm really crap at it, scared of falling off, looping or otherwise upending myself. so put it away until I can be supervised by an adult...or sell it...

I tried the inch perfect electric trials bikes too - they were even duller
You may be able to get excited riding slowly but some of us need a bit of speed to have fun

I ride trials to improve my Enduro riding... many of the skills are directly beneficial to Enduro riding such as traction management, climbing, obstacles etc. But it's fine, we accept your admission of crapness
