Apparently there is an "exceptional" press conference tomorrow just before qualifying at 11:45 local time. As Carmelo Ezpeleta, Jorge Viegas and Herve Poncharal reveal some news to the media.

Suzuki staying? Replacement team? New regulations? Free drinks?

The one we already all know about, yes probably that knowing them. But remember Herve might not be there for a Tech3/GasGas announcement, he's one of the 3 MotoGP bosses being President of the International Road-Racing Teams Association (IRTA). The other two being Jorge Viegas (FIM) and Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna) and a change of sponsor/name shouldn't need all them together.

Yeah, I guess it’s the sprint race thing…

Really not sure how I feel about that.

Does the sport need it, really? I think the lack of overtaking needs to be considered, electronics and aerodynamics probably the biggest problems there. What will the sprint race bring that quali doesn't already deliver? Additional points I guess.

Must admit, my interest has waned a little recently, not sure if it's MM93 being missing and Vale & Dovi going, the long season or the sometimes lacklustre races. Adding gimmicks won't help me keep interest.

That's the st thing about WSBK. Two races is good - it's a longer-than-MotoGP race split into two. Now Superpole or whatever..... how many "races" do they need to do on a weekend? Yeah, it seems counter to what you'd want as a consumer but too much is too much no matter how wafer thin they make it. If anything maybe there should be more free practice time....

I'm not a fan of multiple/sprint races, but maybe I'm sort of part of the problem - I love watching on the telly but attending motoGP it just feels a bit lite, compared to other race series, which does affect what I'll pay to go and see when you have anything and everything from BSB to F1 with fuller shedules?

But motoGP doesn't have an attendance problem does it, enough people still go? Is it a more races>more revenue/advertising etc thing?

I can’t see it adding many to the Saturday gates, maybe TV companies are asking for it

Qualifying on Saturday would always be more exciting than any sprint race.

Moto3 morons.

Group goes out to qualify a 1m41s lap with 1m41s left, they all take the flag and can't do a lap. You need time for 1 out lap and at least 2 flying laps in case there's a yellow, as a minimum.

My experience of attendance is: plenty of space Friday, a little less on Saturday until GP Q1 &2, huge queues at the stalls on Sunday morning and between end of Moto3 race and start of GP build up about five times more people turn up in the stands. Considering you have three world championship series with their own draw and appeal I don't understand why people only turn up for one. By comparison (since you made it) I know there are F2 races, but even when I followed F1 closely I could tell you nothing about the supporting rounds, do they get air time? I knew far more about UK and european F3 championships, but I'll admit that's going back a fair bit.

If I'm watching at home I rarely watch 3 & 2 quali sessions but I nearly always watch all races live, even though I could watch on demand. Add in sprint races and I could see me watching less live which would lead to me watching less overall.

Dorna have had ample opportunity to bring in another race - but haven't. However, they can't think of anything new to promote the sport, so just look across at F1, and decide that Sprint races are the answer.
They let the media know, but not the riders.....that's just poor. Ezpeleta needs to retire, he's past his sell by date - and he should take Dorna with him.

As for GasGas, it's just another Peirer brand; they race each other in Enduro/MXGP and it's not a problem, as the bikes are virtually the same.

Sprint race EVERY race 2023 has certainly ruffled the feathers.
As a viewer I welcome it as a whole 3 day event boils down to a 45 min race which seems over in a flash.
Never been keen to make a trek to a faraway european race just for 45mins...

Will you for an extra 22 minute race?

I think if you are doing a trek, then moto2 and Moto3 are worth seeing too, some great racing recently.
