Is the gen 4 the model that seemed to have some mechanical issues, or are they Honda reliable now?
I had a gen4 BMW S1000RR as race bike last year, and it broke down pretty much every time I rode it, and then the engine went pop and the replacement was very expensive
I've heard similar stories on road bikes, although the later engines vibrate far less, which is what causes many of the breakdowns due to it literally shaking itself to bits

What year was yours? BMW have had 3 years to sort the gen 4 issues out, and I was considering a new one.
2020 model, so one of the first ones
From what I understand, the later ones are marginally better, but still lots of issues

This thread is a worry, as I’m currently thinking about a gen 4 M Sport. Would a Panigale V4 be more reliable!?

I viewed a brand new Gen 4 yesterday. Nice bike, but I didn't look back at it as I walked away. Also watched a You tube remap clip, where nothing was found at the top end, but a huge 40 bhp was added to the mid range. Seems like Euro 5 has really kicked it in the guts. Or perhaps BMW detuned it, to iron out some of the issues?

Was that an American bike? US reviewers and youtubers talk about a massive flat spot but I think it's a US emissions thing that doesnt apply in Europe. UK dyno runs seem to show the engine making all the power claimed.
