GSX600F 1994 suspension spacer mod?
Discussion
Hi all, new kat owner. I've previously had a fair few bikes but nothing for the past 7 years and picked myself up a little project gsx600f on Saturday as a non starter. Very happy with it and had it cranking over yesterday. Just waiting on new fuel line before I try and start her.
Anyway, the forks need new seals which ill be doing this weekend and I've seen that people use 15w in them rather than the standard 10w so I'll be going for that.
I've also seen mention of a $1 spacer mod to stiffen things up a bit, anyone know of it in a little more detail? Ive tried searching and come up empty handed.

My guess would be increased preload with a piece of plastic pipe on top of the fork spring.

I take it these have standard damper rod forks? If so don't fk about with spacers and heavier oil. Put in new springs for your weight along with emulators/pd valves. Heavier oil ruins the damping.
I agree with the above, particularly with regards to the heavier oil. K-Tech linear springs matched to your weight would have been a good option but they don't do them for the GSX600F. Uprated progressive is going to be your only choice. They're available from YSS and Wirth and I wouldn't be surprised if there's other companies who offer them too (maybe Hyperpro). Springs and YSS fork emulators (PD valves) are about as far as you can go with these forks - as Biker9090 has mentioned, they're just very basic damper rod forks.
