Afternoon all, my 2017 Triumph Speed Triple is in need of new tyres and I was wondering what people would recommend as a good road tyre? I am slightly out of touch with the road side of things having spent the last 15 years racing. Cheers.

You’ll get lots of opinions with that question, you won’t go far wrong with any of the big names.
My choice for a summer biased fast road tyre is a Pirelli rosso corsa 2.

I used to run Rosso III / IV during cooler & wetter months. Then Rosso Corsa or Super Corsa in summer.

Michelin Power 5 / Power GP are also good in my experience.

Cheers for that and I realise that it is all a very individual and personal thing. I used to love the Dunlop D212 and also the Michelin Power Cup tyres when racing, whereas others used to hate them. I may have a look at the Michelin again then.

I’ll add another vote for the Diablo Rosso III (albeit, these preferences are subjective). I imagine the new Rosso IV will be excellent, too.

However, are tyres in short supply generally? confused

Seem to be in a few places, and the prices appear to have shot up by around 15% too. I tend to buy online from Oponeo and take loose wheels for fitting locally.

Unless you ride like Guy Martin then a Michelin Road 6 will have way more grip than you'll ever need on the road, wet or dry, and will last a good few miles more than most of the suggestions so far.

I'm also a recent convert to sports touring tyres on my road bike (ZX10r). Using Roadsmart 3 currently and cannot fault them. I actually like riding in the rain now too.

Yep, very few places seem to be able to get ahold of stock with regularity at the moment - noticed cord poking through on my rear on Friday, my usual place was 2 weeks, one place in London was a flat "nope, can't get them in that size at the moment" and the other quoted mid-late September. Had to book in with a dealer about 80 miles out of my way and the earliest they can get the tyre is Tuesday and its costing me £45 extra on the tyre and an hours labour!

Either way, I tend to stick Michellins on every time as they do well in the wet and get decent mileage on them - they just seem to cost a fair bit more than others.

Well it looks as though Michelins are getting my vote again. I did use them when competing with Guy Martin but sadly he was a bit quicker than I was!

If you’re a Dunlop fan then the Sportsmart TT’s might be worth a look.

I’ve just had a set fitted to my Tuono and really rate them, and will likely stick with them when the time comes to replace them.

The Sportsmart TTs do look up to the task so I will see what I can find.

Any idea on availability? I'm thinking of putting some on my KTM SMC R, but the rear tyre is 160 section...

Bridgestone S22's

Came standards on the Gen3 Superduke R, and I can fault them in any condition.
