My new(ish) S1000R
Discussion
Having had an original S1000R when they came out in 2014 (which I loved) I've eventually found myself back on a 2022 model after deciding the Gen 3 RR that superseded the R was just too easy to get to very high speeds on. I had a CCM Spitfire & a Suzuki GSX-S 1000 in between, but neither of those hit the spot.
I've done a good few bits to the bike
R&G cotton reels, tail tidy, front spindle protection, side stand foot extender, rad & oil cooler cover
Evotech crash protectors
8 x 6 plate
Tecbike belly pan + decals off eBay
Racefit Growler X can
Cymart TFT screen anti-theft clamp
Quadlock wireless phone charger fitted from my previous bike
Carbon hugger & front mudguard
Paint protection / decals to the tank sides.
Since this photo I've also added GB Racing engine & clutch casing protection, got a BMW 1.5lt S1000 tank bag which is perfect for carrying the tyre repair kit & a few other bits & bobs and fitted a Quick Action fuel cap, so I don't have to find the key to fill up with petrol + it looks nicer than stock too.
The bike is fantastic. More nimble & at the same time less flighty (with the steering damper) than the early bike. It's not got the mid range of an MT10, but it has more top end rush.
I picked it up just before Easter and have done nearly 2,500 miles including a track evening at Brands Indy.
I love it.

Did you ride the RR? Wondering how you found the low end torque comparison between that and the R. I test rode a Gen 4 RR last week and found it really gutless until you got it going, compared to the 2005 Fireblade I knock around on.
I had a Gen 3 RR for over 5 years and I’ve ridden the current RR. The R certainly has more mid range shove.forrestgrump said:

I had a gen 2 RR, and when it was in for a service the dealer lent me an R. The RR would have slaughtered it..
