Oh God I’m slipping to the dark side

I'm not quite there yet but having had an Adv. bike has a loaner, I can certainly see the appeal, especially given how capable these bikes are and the level of comfort they offer.
Eventually, when my body can't take a sports bike or big naked any longer, I can see there being a big Adv. in the garage.

My mate recently bought one, after a disappointing dally with a Multistrada. He's usually a Harley fan, but like a lot of us, has owned all sorts of bikes. He's chuffed to bits with it and keeps finding excuses to go places... like "needing" to visit a friend in the south of France for the weekend (from North Wilts.). He rode back from that weekend, passed his own house, carried on through town and out to our place in the country - purely so as to extend the ride. You could say that he's well happy with it.
I ride a Hypermotard at the moment and apart from a few track days this year it’s not left the garage,I just can’t be arsed with spending at least half an hour to get to some decent roads.
I think I’m ready too start touring.
I would add some emoji’s here but my iPad says no,or,I’m to old to work it.

I’ve just filled out the form for a demo ride on a BMW GS.
I need to hang up my boots, gloves and helmet and hand in my license,I never thought the day would arrive,I’m officially an old b*****d.
I think you can get therapy! Possibly even on the NHS as they too understand how bad it has to be for someone to sink that low!I need to hang up my boots, gloves and helmet and hand in my license,I never thought the day would arrive,I’m officially an old b*****d.
Reading the thread title I'm now a bit disappointed the OP hasn't traded in his sports bike for a Star Destroyer, although I suppose a GS has similar proportions .
On a more serious note, they're great bikes and if you plan to go touring I couldn't think of many other better bikes to do it on.

People that think a gs is a staid boring bike haven't ridden one.
I've had all sorts over the last 40 years, but my last two bikes were a gs and an adventure, and I did more and had more fun on those than all the sports bike I had.
Admittedly they'd be st (in comparison) around Caldwell, but I don't do that anymore

brilliant, I’m 59 and I bought one this year and love it, I’ve never ridden so much, off out at the drop of a hat. I do still have a GSXR1000R but it’s days are numbered as it’s rarely used. The GS is so comfy and capable I genuinely think I’m quicker on my favourite roads on the GS than the GSXR, but that may say more about me than the bikes

Now that was the answer I was after. However if I start to look at BMW clothing I have given the wife full permission to put me down.
BMW obviously don’t need my custom as they haven’t bothered to reply.
Went to Aprilia a month ago and left my details saying I was very interested in a Tuono, left my details and heard sweet FA back.
What is it with these bike dealers?
When I used too sell cars many moons ago I would of been considered an easy sale????
I too draw the line at BMW clothing, t-shirt maybe but not the full adventure gear.
I think all dealers are busy surprisingly and maybe not staffed at the levels they were, I never got a response to an on line enquiry so just called to arrange the test ride and all was good from then on. Not sure where you are but Bahnstormer in Alton are very good as are the guys at Park Lane in London

This is what is putting me off, they’re freakin’ huge and ugly.Personally the std GS is no bigger than any other ADV bike to my eyes, the GSA however is fking enormous
Well, I haven’t done the GS. But I’ve done more miles and had more fun in the last 18 months on a 1200 multistrada than I have in the previous 10 years on S1000rr and gsxr1000 etc. I wish I’d gone for a road biased adventure bike years ago.
I can only imagine the GS is similar but a bit bigger and more comfy. I know they can divide opinion, but there is a reason they are so popular.

I’m in Nottingham so Piddcocks is my only choice unless I travel.I think all dealers are busy surprisingly and maybe not staffed at the levels they were, I never got a response to an on line enquiry so just called to arrange the test ride and all was good from then on. Unfortunately it takes a good 20 minutes to get to any half decent roads and they only give you an hour test ride.

I was going too try and get a demo on the Multistrada V4S as a comparison as I’m a big Ducati fan but I think they’re like rocking horse poo to get hold of at the moment.I can only imagine the GS is similar but a bit bigger and more comfy.
